I will be shipping blue diodes soon. These are true blue color at 445nm. I won't respond to anything here too fast, so don't flame me. I do this full time (lasers) and my time is in other area. Members of LPF know me on eBay, etc. as lasrs4u there, or my web site directly as (my LPF name) DOT COM. Some well respected memebrs know me, and mite chime in here.
These are sold as 50mW CW, with a MAX data sheet rating of 80mW @ max, 120mA. I'm sure a brave LPF member will pop them at 200mW just to try!
Now pricing... They are $1500 diodes- at single item price. At LPF we do GB at 100pcs, right? So then they are like $550. Don't shoot me, as the 405nm 8X drives were hundreds when they were first discovered, and with these, they are new, blue, with a data sheet, and no prying out of a metal mount, etc. At 1K pcs, we can sell them at $200 and under. I want to see how much interest there are for these. They run at 5.5 volts like violet. I'll try to follow this thread, but my time is limited . see you at my site, and ebay.

I think you'll be lucky to gather 10 buyers at that price. It's not that it is expected to be lower, but even at $550 99.9% of our members would be reluctant to buy one. And if 10 people do sign up for the GB, the price per diode would still be in the thousands. Obviously if we all had the money we would all want one of these diodes, but this forums tends to draw in those with less of a budget who enjoy DIY. If I had the money myself, I would definitely buy one, but unfortunately I don't.

Hey Laser66, I would pry them out of a metal mount, if they c/b had for like < $150, but no lotto ticket has come my way so far...
Really excited though that any new exotic wl's may eventually become ava. :yh:

I fear you tell the truth.:cryyy: if I could get one for $200.00 or less I would be forced to work faster and could get one then !

Hey Will, what we need to see besides the data sheet you mentioned, is some testing on one of these bad boys...

And since I live only about 45 minutes away from you, well I guess I will volunteer to test one. :D

Getting down to 445 would be really great!

At this point prices seem a bit out of reach, but i think that will change quickly once actually available. I doubt we will get anywhere near such volumes on lpf, but there is a global market for these things ofcourse.

At $550 for 50-80 mW they sure give the blue dpss lasers a run for their money, and be more visible than any blu ray on the market as well.

from what I've seen with thee diodes, there isn't a hge price leap between these and the 500mW mdels. Maybe a couple hundred bucks at quantitiy, so why not get the half watt diodes rather than these? Or at least find out how much of a difference t would be

This is great! But I have one question:
Why don't you buy 1,000 of them, and then sell it to us for a lesser price (you said $200, but there's some room for profit for you), since you are a retailer?

Not Nichia, and no, not a spare $200K lying around. I have some industrial customers, so I just wanted to let everyone know.
