Spot size. Now this the best I could do at the moment. I will try to get a picture more aligned later but it is a pain. The spot/line on the M462 is just a little smaller than the M140 and less splash from dye reflection.

Now for the power test. No animals were harmed in the making of this test but two poor diodes were mortally wounded.:gun:

!!!Zombified!!!:cryyy:

Zombie running @ 800mA still does 550mW but if you try to increase it looses power....

So that is it for now More info to be added as it comes in.

So for these, is there a guaranteed supply? Or did you manage that on the 9mm's too.

I'm sure everyone wants to know ;)

Nice to see another 462nm diode to perform so well, thanks dtr for the testing!

Nope these like the 9mm which are from a completely different supplier both say they are limited runs. Only time will tell if that is true or not but the 9mm ones already seem to be drying up which is good I found these.

The divergence looks very similar to the osram PLT450B.

I'm glad that we have another cheaper alternative to the 462nm 9mm diodes.

Looking forward to the spectro readings

Hmm. I think its about time to fill my empty kryton groove...

As always, thanks for another diode DTR ;)

Hmm...these look better than the 9mm variants in every way except maybe in how they take abuse. The 9mm ones can manage higher wavelengths due to their hardier nature.

I wouldn't speak so soon. You haven't seen the sprectrometer results yet:whistle:

Agree, looks like these cant be pushed hard like the 9mm but I would like to know the WL @ say 1.7-1.8a.

It would be nice to achieve 469nm without over driving them too far.

Interesting note: the 5.6mm and 9mm seems to cap out around 2W (more or less)hmm

You may not be able to tell, but does the zombified diode seem to stick at the wavelength it was at right before death, or jump back down to where it was at 800ma, pre-zombification?

PS, don't throw that zombie out. It would be interesting to spectro at some point.

I agree, I wouldn't mind a 500mW 473nm:beer:

Despite it being multimode, it would still be desirable.

Granted, if something like that would actually still operate.

Oh I kept it. Makes a nice little 350mW with a three element lens. The beam sucks with a G-2 as the beam pattern is all fouled up but a three element squeezes it all together into a nice beam.:)

You should send it to lazeerer for wavelength testing. You never know, you may have a one of a kind laser there:whistle: Does it appear a lighter blue than the other M462 diodes now?
