2W M462 462nm Laser Diode

Yea actually sent it off to another member already. Did not notice it was any higher wavelength than it was before it was damaged but the eye is not that discriminating.:)
 





I've got one en route also, and will spectro when it arrives.

I was initially planning to push it like I have with the 9mm, but likely won't in light of the zombification experienced above.
 
Great test as always DTR. Thanks for finding us another diode :beer: It's sad two died in making the test, but their death will blaze the path so many can live.
What can I put this diode in :thinking:

0.5 A - 456 nm
1.0 A - 458 nm

I didn't have the heart to push it, given DTR's LED incident.

EDIT: If anyone thinks we should murder-fund it, I'll push the diode to death and beyond, and see how it behaves on the spectro. Alternately, if anyone wants this spectro'd diode, let me know. I'll pass it along for whatever the cost of a bare diode is (it's now pressed into a copper module with silicon leads). As weird as it is to say this, "I don't need any more diodes in the 460s", I've already got two ;)

EDIT 2: Okay.... I just couldn't leave it at 1.9A....too unround of a number. I had to try 2.0A :)

I'm really intrigued by this diode.

It's basically tracking exactly what the NDB7675 did in in my initial test of it wavelength-wise, except for a bunch less money. I'm really curious to know whether maybe DTR's M462 LED event was a fluke, and this is actually the same diode as the 7675, in a different package. It seems like it (except for the LED'ing at 2.3A). If so, if these could be pushed like the NDB7675, that would be amazing. $145 diodes capable of doing what the 7675 did, would be remarkable.

Thanks for the spectro results:beer: I was kinda hoping these would hit higher but oh well, can't complain for a cheap 462nm diode:)

Someone on PL (Lasertack, I think?) said he was told that these are binned Osram diodes. The lower wavelength readings you got, RHD (compared to the Nichia 462's) seem to support that, but who knows. Too bad these don't go higher though...

Nichia 9mm
0.3A - 456 nm
1.0A - 459 nm
1.5A - 461 nm
1.7A - 462 nm
1.9A - 463 nm
2.0A - 464 nm
2.1A - 465 nm

M462
0.2 A - 455 nm
0.5 A - 456 nm
1.0 A - 458 nm
1.5 A - 460 nm
1.7 A - 461 nm
1.8 A - 462 nm

If you're comparing to the higher readings I got from the later batch of 5x 9mm diodes I purchased (and aborted selling), remember that those were a different batch, and they were being driven very high in order th hit the mid 470s.

My apologies- yea, i completely forgot those were a separate batch. but weren't most of the diodes hitting higher wavelengths than these new 5.6mm diodes anyway? Or am I just making stuff up in my mind?
