I'm a laser virgin looking for something that can light/relight candles, which will be its main purpose.

Do you guys think this laser will do the job? Any recommendations?

This laser is not powerful enough.

You will need >1W (1000mW) to light a used candle reliably.
You will need >2W to light a new candle reliably.

I have a 2W 808nm handheld. It will light a candle. 220mW is nowhere near enough. You realize that this is Class IV power and goggles will be required, both for yourself, and anyone with you. A lighter would be a safer, easier, and far cheaper choice ...

If its only for effect tape or use wax to fasten a match head to the wick and try to light the match head. But as far as just walking along and lighting a random candle, then no, that won't work.
