After making the copper heatsink for the M462, I had to rig this up to be 3D printed:

Mind you, the bolt and nut weren't printed only the plastic part. I actually had to grind the nut smaller to prevent it from shorting to the host.

After e-poxying, here's the final product! :D

The M462 diode is in a 12mm module along with the boost driver, set at 1A for roughly 1W of output power. The divergence works out to be really nice with the 3E lens too.

Thanks for reading!!

That looks good, well done! That heatsink will certainly help run times. :D

Yes, a very nice build. It helps to have access to a machine lathe and a 3D printer. I have to agree that the copper heat sink will increase your duty cycle considerably when compared to a SS host. Noticed that your camera makes the beam look violet instead of light blue.

That's a nice clean build, EP!
That poor pocket clip is going to be straining with that sweet looking copper heatsink.

I've never seen a pen with a larger heatsink like that. I gotta say, it looks good! +rep

Very nice work EP. I enjoy pointing around with my pen builds the most. Easy on the eyes and never get old. Perfect for single modes.

After seeing this item on AliExpress I thought it looked great, and for six bucks shipped what could possibly go wrong?

For a flashlight that could be paid for with pocket change, the quality on this is stunning. I didn't do much to modify it at all, only grinded the end a bit and re-did the surface finish.

That's a sweet looking little build. Like your 3D printed contacted board. (fancy). Love these little pocket sized builds. :gj:
Looks very clean. Like the contrast between the silver and the copper, sharp.

What a cute well thought out build:)
No overkill for that host as you set it at comfy 1A so you can enjoy it for a bit:beer:

I usually don't like pocket builds as they often don't allow proper cooling for these high power diodes. But that heatsink on a pocket sized host looks good and is highly functional.
Admittedly I wouldn't mind having one myself, also when I'm not so broke. :p

:gj: EP. Can't rep you again yet.

Ha, you've done enough for me Alaskan. Plus I do have 465's in lab form so its not like I'm missing the wavelength.
Thanks though. But out of interest EP, how much would you charge for your pocket builds?

Thanks guys, yea I don't see why I couldn't sell a couple, as long as you're okay waiting for the part from China (probably around a month, sometimes longer). Anyone who's interested let me know and I'll put it on order for a batch of them. Please PM me for a spot.

As you can tell even with one of my other build, copper and stainless are my favourite combo, even though hardest to machine :D

Curtis, if you're looking for something different, I usually only work with brass and aluminum. Yes I do pocket builds and hosts, and price depends on the specs you'd like (battery bay, module, material, etc). I can arrange for copper but it'd be way more expensive than it's worth (very hard to find machinable copper around here).

It's ok EP. Thanks, I can't afford anything just yet anyway. I was just curious as you could make many brilliant pocket builds with those parts from China.
