Default 1W Blue laser parts for Cree C6 host

Hi everyone. I am new to lasers in general and I had a bought a blue laser through someone's private listing on gumtree. It was putting out 1.6W at 445nm. I am fairly sure the diode was rated to 1W and he set the current higher to achieve 1.6W. There is nothing written on the diode and I can't contact the guy who put this together so I have no idea what the exact diode specs are but I know for sure that it was putting out 1.6W at 445nm. The driver is an "X-drive V6" by Lazeerer.

I accidentally broke my diode, while cleaning the lens I dropped it onto a concrete floor from about a meter and a half and also ripped a wire out of the driver pill.

Could someone please tell me where to purchase the correct diode and driver pill to fit into this Cree C6 host. I already tried contacting a few places with no luck in getting info on the correct parts I need for this host.
Thanks so much in advance. I've attatched some clear photos of the host and parts. Note that the driver pill looks thin because I cut it in half with a hacksaw to see if I could resolder the wire that came loose. I had no such luck.

1) are you sure the diode is dead?
2) what exactly did you do to the pill? Cut it in half? Why didn't you just press the driver out?
3) check out DTR's shop. He can supply you with the necessary driver- I am assuming this was an M140.

Just curious, how much did you pay for the laser?

1) I'm pretty sure it's dead. I tried connecting the diode to a driver that puts out 1000mA (doesn't fit into host though), and nothing. Then I tried connecting directly to 2 AA alkaline batteries in series and nothing. Then I tried connecting the diode directly to a single 18350 Li-Ion cell and again nothing.

2) I had tried pressing it out but after pressing with over 30kg of force I didn't try pressing any harder because I thought it would break something on it.

3) Thanks for the link to DTR's shop. Would his shop have any suitable diodes to fit into this host?
I don't know whether it was an M140 but if that one suit's the C6 then I'll go with that one.

I payed $250 for the laser with batteries, charger and a spare collimating lens.

Cheers for the response

Same as the email I sent you.
What I would suggest is grab one of my X-drive options last two options on this page.
https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf...45-m140-didoes

Then grab a drilled pill from SL for your host.
Drilled Driver Pill & Brass Ring
Since you have a standard size heatsink you will need the drilled pill to fit the entire module or you could get an extended sink from SL and use a standard pill but since you already said you destroyed the pill then the least expensive would be just to get a drilled pill.

You can pull all the components off the X-drive board you have and use it as a battery contact board or get a new one while you are getting your pill from SL.

NEVER connect a diode directly to a battery. They will draw as much current as possible and die.

Only after they warm up enough, you can test this out using a power supply with a constant current adjustment, set it a bit higher than the current it is pulling and watch, does the current immediately go up? No, only after it warms up awhile, then it will and indeed, start pulling more and more current to die a hot death. Now, in the case you have a diode with absolutely no heat sinking (as he may have done, not sure), yea, I think they warm up so fast they can too quickly start pulling more current than they were designed for and before you know it go poof inside.

I ran a 2.5 watt IR diode without a driver and had no problems with over current, until the heat sinking couldn't keep it cool enough from running it too long, then the current started to climb, but only after a couple of minutes. I'm betting with active cooling you can probably keep one of these laser diodes from needing a constant current driver because they can't warm up enough to start doing that, anyone ever try that?

By the way, DTR's advice is the way to go, I think you received your answer with that.

Sincerely investigate any of these three short quotes as new concepts and you've taken your first step into a larger world:

"I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness..." - Max Planck. "Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real" - Neils Bohr. "What we call physical things and events do not exist independently of subjective experience..." - Deepak Chopra.

Each of these three rabbit holes go deep, ending up in the same place.

Useless troll fighting.
