**CLOSED**

It is becoming painfully obvious that my camera is not long for the world. I would prefer to trade "play money" for "play things."

If someone has a quality camera (not "professional" my photographic skillz still suck) and would consider a trade for laser stuffz, I have quite a few "levels" of trade equipment possible (argons, HeNe's, blu-rays, etc.)

I would like one that has an optical zoom and can do macro shots. Beyond that, I am pretty open.

You don't need to get to technical with me with your explanations. They would just be wasted anyway ;)

Peace,
dave

DAVE, I have a Canon Powershot A550 Digital camera, 7.1 mega pixel, 4x optical zoom,
It's PictBridge enabled and it comes with the Camera User Guide, Direct Print User Guide,
Software Starter Guide , Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk , Audio/Visual Cable and a
small size soft carry case(just big enough for camera)--Also included is a 16M Multi Media
Card------MIKE

PS., It looks just like the Powershot A560 camera.

Either the 550 or the 560 will work for me.

560 = newer, 2.5in screen, unknown accessories, ships to/from Canada

550 = older, 2in screen, known accessories, ships to US (?)

I guess I'll need to know what you both are looking for in trade.

We can do it here or in PM's.

Thank you

Peace,
dave

Dave, I have a Fuji A310

Digital Cameras - Fuji FinePix A310 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

It is old, I bought it in Cleveland, OH on 2003. It has a small screen, but I have been doing my shots (of course, before I got the Nikon D90) with it, it should be really cheap by now, but it has 6Mpx, a 3X optical zoom and decent macro capabilities (not enough for uber macro stuff, though).

If you want a good/cheap camera you can always just get a Nikon D40 or D60, I'll teach you how to use it for good :)

(And for evil too!)

One of the problems I had with the A80 that is dying is the 1.5in screen. I have old eyes. It is getting harder and harder to see the small stuff.

What about a 10 megapixel, Nikon Coolpix S60 with a 3.5" touchscreen. I would have to give you more details about it in around 1.5 weeks because my mom stoles it from me and has it in florida now :D.

You can get a cheap Sony W220, they have big screens and buttons, I don't know about the macro though.

Also, the D40 and D60 are DSLR's, they have big screens and lots of buttons for you to push :)

The D40 would be fine (as would probably be the W220). However no one has offered one for trade ;)

Dave, just so you know you do not need a "macro mode" in order to take detailed pictures of small things. My camera does not have a macro mode, but using a convex lens I can take these kinds of pictures.
First, this is the closest I can take a picture of a penny before it gets blurry.
IMG_0501.jpg

If I hold the convex lens right up to the camera and hold the camera at the right position, (you will have to hold the camera at a different distance for a different lens) I can get a closer view.
IMG_0508.jpg

The lens I use is a glass convex lens I had laying around.

Take note that the longer the focal length of the exterior lens, the clearer your picture will be. If you use a shorter focal length lens, then you can take closer pictures but it will be less clear. You can also adjust the extent of the macro shot with the normal zoom function of the camera. The only difficulty of taking the smaller macro shots is keeping everything as steady as possible.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am looking for a Canon A620. 7.1mp, and the ability to take macros from as close a 1cm away. Closest I've seen on a digital camera from Canon. Now I add a convex lens and I'll be using a freakin microscope!!
