Hey,
I think that might be a bit high? Just doing the quick math:
$30 Diode
$15 (guess) for a heatsink
$15 Aixiz glass lens and module
$5 Host
$25 (guess, max) for a driver

That's a max of maybe $90 to put together. But that could even be high because we don't know if it's really a $25 driver, or a $5 driver, or the driver that came with the host, etc. Also, it may not cost $30 for an 8x anymore, with 12x available for ~$40.

I don't know. It could even be less than $90 to put this together?

And the uncertainty of not knowing who made it originally, is another factor. I'm not trying to barter, cause I'm not in the market for a pre-made laser. Just throwing in my thoughts.

actually, the price is perfectly fine. This build is probably one of the more difficult ones to complete because of the way the on/off feature works with the twisting of the host instead of by a switch.
I tried to sell these as a kit long ago but quit because too many people found it too difficult to build them.
The driver that comes with these hosts would definitely not be usable on an 8x diode.

I would bet that it IS a flex drive in the host. it wouldn't be a microboost because they didn't even exist when 8x diode came out.

Fair comment - the value of the workmanship wasn't something I thought about. And I suppose also, the inherent risk of destroying a diode vs knowing that this assembled version works.

Though it still might be a good idea to try and sell locally. I'm sure you could put a higher price tag ($200?) on something like this, and draw comparisons to some of the more well known (ugh, wicked) retailers online. Presuming you live in a decent sized city, I bet you'd get some eccentric people without any inclination to build their own, requesting to purchase it :)

That's a pretty nifty little host and some good power coming out of it. Even though I'm not in the market for one of those, it's a nice build and probably worth the price. I'd use a middleman though.

I did order two - just a few days ago, so I haven't received them yet.

I'm sure it will take a few weeks coming from China.

How's the divergence on this mini beast? The price is tempting, but I cant decided whether or not to buy it since I already have a 1.1 W 445.
