So now I need a yellow and I am done...

Shoot some offers..

Yellow lasers (589 and 594) aren't cheap, or common. My Rigel-6 costs $499 now, I got it on sale for about $350 with my last name engraved. They don't show up for sale very often on the forums, so you're going to have to wait for more than 5 hours.

Might be worth looking into a 594nm HeNe if you don't mind the lower output. Or look at Laserglow and Dragon Lasers for options.

Well I understand that it is difficult to find but maybe someone has one and wants to sell it. I am also trying to make a group buy for some yellow lasers, and last, it was bumped after 18 hours not six.

Well I just noticed the am. It's going to be a while, give it time. These don't show up often. Also, there's no need to bump it every 18 hours. Trust me, people do scroll when they see new topics ;)

I am not soooo desperate... I just wanted to find one... and to make it happen I am making a GB on this forum, for other people to have the same desperation as I do.
I have this thread open just in case the group buy doesn't work and that someone might let off a yellow laser for a reasonable price...

BTW your link doesn't work.

I'm also looking for a yellow laser, I've been looking around for a while with no luck! I would participate in the GB, but it's just a little too expensive. I wish I could have snatched one for under $200 like wannaburnstuff did :p

Are there yellow diodes? I'd rather work with a respected and experienced forum member than go with a company. Issac (Wannaburnstuff) might be willing to part with the Lady Galadriel, It's in his sig.

Nice job with the Youtube channel Gun :gj:

Not sure but I doubt Isaac would want to part with his beautiful yellow laser!

Thanks :D

There are no yellow diodes, yellow is the most technically challenging form of DPSS to make that is currently available commercially in a portable form (quadrupled Nd:YAG UV would be the non-portable one-up'er).

That being said I am going to place my Rigel-6 up for sale very soon (as soon as I have time to write up the listing for it). I can't let it go for less than $300, being that it is a $500 laser and does more than double spec when it wants to.

Something all of you should know is that all 593.5nm yellow lasers above a couple mW are inherently unstable in terms of output power.

A typical run routine can look something like this:
Across 45sec of run time:
turn on
0.5mW
1mW
6mW
9mW
3mW
6mW
7mW
9mW
13mW
9mW
12mW
19mW
10mW
9mW
6mW
4mW
4mW
4mW
2mW
0.5mW
turn off.

As the multiple crystal sets and pump diode warm up output increases until it peaks and then as it gets warmer the output dies off. My Rigel is a good example of this. So keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info Sigurthr!

If I was going to get a yellow laser, I would only want it to be 1mW or something. Is it cheaper to get a yellow laser in a "labby" style, or is handheld cheaper?

Thank you Sigurthr! That is veeery interesting and good to know.

DPSS a curious creature indeed  It makes sense since you explained the mechanism. I wonder if cooling would make the output more stable, although that may not be practical. Understanding that it would avoid any confusion with LPM readings. Any particular duty cycle?

It is a beautiful wavelength from what I've seen. Do you have a favorite wavelength/color?

Yes, labbies achieve stability through a temperature correction feedback loop. This takes many more watts and space than handhelds are capable of. It seems the 3-4mW and >75mW units have the best stability and output for the price.

Rigel units are 45sec on and 1min off. It takes an optical LPM to accurately read these units, thermopiles will give you an estimated overall average if you select your sample size/time carefully.

Favorite wavelengths? 465.8nm, 496.5nm, and 593.5nm. I'm only selling the Rigel because I want to get a new recurve bow & arrows and eventually switch to a 594.1nm HeNe labby.

Letting go of a yellow laser, I can think of nothing more painful :p.

What's the cheapest yellow laser (593.5nm or 594nm) you guys have seen (new)? THIS is the cheapest I've seen.
