Hi All,

I have an upcoming project and I need to source a few (1-5, whatever I can get) low powered (10-20mW preferred, 30mW max) laser modules of any visible colour (pref green/blue) within the next 3 or so weeks.

TTL control is preferable but not essential. I would also prefer modules with drivers but I will take what I can get.

I'd prefer to buy from someone already in Australia as I don't have time to take chances with customs. I have a few modules on order from HK and laserlands but they don't seem to be arriving and I'm starting to worry they won't arrive in time or will get mistakenly confiscated by customs.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

They are perfectly legal, but as I have found out... They don't always get through customs.

Spoz, I have some M-140 diodes, modules, and a few drivers (none TTL controllable unfortunately, but can be controlled with a transistor). What's your budget?

Thanks for the offer but I am really after low powered modules for safety's sake. If I am ever looking to build another 445nm module I will definitely send you a PM first though :)

What has your experience been with customs confiscating modules? Where did you order them from, and did you put up a fight to get them released? My modules from ebay HK and laserlands have still not arrived, but I haven't received a letter either.

you can buy laser modules from Jaycar. have a look if theres one near you!

I didn’t realise they still sell them, just had a look online. $80 for a 10mW green. Ouch!

I have to say Australia is the least problematic destinations I ship to. I am almost positive I have never lost a package there be it from customs or ones that just disappear mid flight and I send many there each month. Plus their post is pretty efficient and items usually arrive very quickly. I always find it amazing that I have not had a problem based on all the talk and fear but I have found it to be unfounded. Probably the only ones having trouble there are chinese shops that are on their lists for being regular importers of laser pointers that are over 1mW or items marked "Laser".

I just list them as "DLP projector modules" or "diodes" depending on what it purchased which is an accurate label. Never use the word laser as that would probably slow it down for an inspection but as others have said they are not laser pointers with a power over 1mW so there would be no reason to take them anyway. Russia, Italy, Germany are the biggest pain and even those are just longer shipping times except Russia every once in awhile one just disappears there.;)

We have a pretty good postal service out here, It's pretty quick. I've never had an issue with them..
