I'm looking to get a small bare HeNe laser tube for a desk lamp I've been trying to build for months. I baught and paid for one from Laser_Ben over 3 months ago, but he ripped me off-kept the money, didn't send one, and won't respond to my PMs or me billing him for a refund on PayPal.

I have everything I need exept for the laser tube now. I already have the brick PSU and everything, just no laser tube.

I'm not looking to spend a lot of money. I'm just trying to build a cheap HeNe in a wooden box with plexi-glass.

Tube mounts would be a big plus also.

Please PM me with any offers, and I'll respond as soon as I can.

Thanks, Steve

Those are nice lasers; but they're about $100 past my price range.
I was hoping for something out of an old grocery store scanner or a de-commissioned medical laser machine.

I baught a complete HeNe laser for about $50 a while ago but the tube is not exposed. It is siliconed inside a metal case, and very sturdy.

Those HeNe tubes are worth about $20 or $30 used unless you're selling them with the power suppy unit also.

Yeah, I know they're definitely not worth that much. I'm most likely going to keep it myself because I like it, but if someone was willing to pay a lot more than I paid, I'd sell it. I got the tube + the wall power supply, all for only $30 shipped. :)

Does it need to output a beam? I have a little HeNe here that would output a green beam if the optics were in alignment. It's one of the little tubes, 5 or 6 inches. Just a bare tube, not in a head.

I've got one here that is about 10 inches long with about 4.5 inches of plasma exposed. It is already wired with the ballast and rubber "caps" over the ends. The output mirror is exposed so you can see the little spot as well.

You just need to supply it with 8-14kV and you are set.

You can have it for $30 (shipped in the US)

Dave, Good to have you back.

Does that tube need 8-14kV or is it .8 to 1.4kV? The brick PSU that I got from Chris(Heru) is rated at 1400V (1.4kV). Also I live across the river from Detroit in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, so how much of an increase in shipping?

Also, off-topic: Did you get that 38mA replacement driver I sent you? You baught 5 and 1 was DOA. (months ago) I never heard about it again after I sent the replacement.

LOL! Guilty of decimal omission:whistle:

I have to head off to give a final exam. I'll check postage this afternoon (pacific time here).

I received the driver. Unfortunately it was in the bag of stuff that was part of the stuff stolen in the burglary :( Sorry. I kind of lost track of the world for a bit after the move.

Peace,
dave

Hey DJZ,

Can the optics be re-aligned or is the laser permanently ruined? If it is just a neon lamp now and can't be repaired, than it's probably not worth the shipping cost.
That would be an awesome laser though-Green HeNe. If I'm not mistaken, the desklamp that Dave built has a green HeNe in it. Very cool.

Hi Steve, yeah I suppose it can be re-aligned. Wouldn't be easy though, especially since the part that holds the mirrors in place is what'll shock ya! You're welcome to it if you want to give it a shot, how's $15 on top of whatever it costs to ship?

On the pic of the mirrors, the one on the right is just a red hene, the one on the left is the green hene.
