Default WTB: Several 445nm builds

Hey guys. I am just getting back into the laser hobby after a few year hiatus i took due to health issues. Several of my friends saw my collection and wanted to get some 445nm builds for themselves.

I would probably start off buying the one for myself, then buying several more.

If anybody out there does decent quality work and can build these for around $150 each please let me know and we will work something out

Looking for portable pen/flashlight style hosts, with power in the 1-2 watt range, with or without adjustable focus, preferably heatsinked well and built with as much quality as possible while remaining affordable.

Thanks

P.S. - If you need to charge a bit over 150 but think your product is worth it or is warrantied or something, please still reply and we will consider it. Also, if you know a member who you would recommend for something like this, go ahead and point them towards this thread or let me know who they are so I can point them to it myself

I figure it makes more sense for us to all get lasers from the same person so they will all be configured similarly for repair purposes and it will be easier than buying a half dozen different units from different people, etc.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I don't think this thread is going to get much activity, for a couple of reasons:

You've indicated that the lasers would be for other people, which means that the seller would have no idea who's hands they would eventually wind up in, or how conscientious with them they would be. None of us want to be responsible for someone blinding themselves, or worse yet someone else, because they were treating the laser like it was a toy.

It is illegal to manufacture lasers above 5mW for resale without ALL proper safety measures, and can become a rather unpleasant and costly experience if the FDA takes an interest.

No long ago someone wanted me to make lasers for them and sell them in their retail store, and while I liked the idea of building lasers and profiting from it, I liked the idea of a potential huge fine and jail time even less.

If you are really serious though, lasers are not that hard to build and you could probably do it yourself.

For some reason when I speak with people asking to have a laser built they assume that I am inexperienced with lasers. I built 3/4 of the lasers in my collection and have sat in on numerous grad school level optical engineering lectures while I was in college. I assume you are assuming I am naive because of my post count and the fact that i'm asking someone to make something simple for me, which is a fair but incorrect assumption

The friends I am going to be buying these to are comprised of a physicist, professors, engineers and one is a law enforcement officer. They are responsible, sensible men and women who understand the the dangers and responsibilities that go along with owning one of these.

I am fully capable of building these myself, I really just dont have the time to invest in ordering parts, cleaning out my shop, buying a new low power soldering iron, learning about the new hardware/drivers you guys are using, etc etc etc etc. I'd really rather just order them from someone who I know.

I am pretty sure that I have chosen the person to make these for me, but if anybody out there in the world wide web still wants to contact me and make an offer, please do.

Also, if anybody can recommend a brand of affordable glasses that would be appropriate to protect against rogue reflections of 1-1.5 watts of 445 please go ahead and post a reply or shoot me a private message

Thanks so much guys! I am so happy to be a part of this community again. Hopefully in the next few weeks i'll start pulling all my dvd drives apart again and tinkering with my own creations. It's a shame I just sold my 1st gen kryton the other day right before I got sucked back into the hobby, but i'm sure the guy I sold it to is having lots of fun with it.

See my signature for safety goggles.

You may want to consider simply buying the lasers through survival laser. Since they do require assembly(extremely minimal assembly), you and your friends may find them to be a better and more informative option.
