hey guys, I have a project that I need to get under-way pretty fast. I have 3 weeks to build / find the brightest ILDA scan system and laser (for the budget)for under 400.00.

I know it's not the best budget in the world, but if I can prove lasers are still uber cool in 3 weeks, i'll have a budget to build a white light multi color system!

I Would prefer it to be a 532, as it seems it would have the biggest impact...
I don't need a super fast galvo system as I can always upgrade it later...

any ideas or help is appreciated....

well... realistically I would love to utilize the 500mW tec cooled laser I have sitting in my basement, but she's out of commission till after the show... so right now I'm taking whatever I can find.

I know... short time frame, but I Would think I could make SOMETHING work...

Please provide a link to the said system, it looks too good to be true.

The cheapest combination I have found is the same as chipdouglas and the total cost of that with 120mW green (probably the cheapest decent unit on the market), 20k scanners, homemade soundcard DAC, Spaghetti (basically the cheapest decent software that exists) and NOT including shipping, case and heatsinking would still add up to about $400.

I doubt that you could get a far better package for less.

I must say not showing any pictures of the actual unit does not bode very well for this item.. However all of the specs seem legit and not as if they are copied from some other listing by a monkey.

It is up to you - this is probably the cheapest you will get, but it is somewhat of a gamble. Even if it does live up to the given specs and performs fairly well, you will probably very quickly want something better.
High quality scanners (such as Cambridge or DT scanners), a good DAC (such as the Moncha, or any Pangolin one) and a high quality, high power analogue modulated TEC CNI labby will give you perfect scanning at all times (if you have wired and tuned the unit well).
The cost with these good components reaches closer to $1500 even for the cheap options within the given criteria. Then if you want to make it RGB, add about $2500 to that price for labbys and optics.

Definately write a nice review for us, in case this unit is good it would be a great starter-pack for anyone considering getting into scanners.
Hope you get a nice product and enjoy it - and be sure to get a smoke machine in case you don't already have one!

oh man, I have a ton... I also have a nice 500mW tec and a 150mW tec I used in an old scanner... but they are close to dead now.

When I have time I would like to build one of those cute little blueray units.. then I might have the gunny to rebuild my 500..
