Ok guys, does anybody have spherical neodymium magnets (or just cool strong normal sized (not freaking huge) ones) lying around your house? I'd like to buy those ones you don't use anymore or you just left sitting in a drawer. If you have no more use for them and want to sell them for cheap (to make Niko happy) please let me know what you have and at what price you'd like to sell them.

PS: I know DX sells them but I want to see what you've got and of course if I can get them cheaper :)

The whole reason for this thread is to buy high grade neodymium magnets (or mid grade) from members who don't need theirs anymore so I can get as many as I can for less money than buying them unused from some website :)

Thanks for the offer, though.

I have one that is quite large and extremely high grade. Let's see... It's 2.5" by 2" by 1". The problem is that's it's a real pain to ship one. It has to be packed properly, that's the main reason I still have it. It's not worth the effort of packing vs its value. :p I think I paid $40 or so at the time (6 or 7 years ago). If you REALLY want it I could pack it. Just might take me a week to do it with my work taking most of my time. I guess $25 is a fair price (not counting shipping).

ive got a crap load of harvested sleds if you want to harvest the magnets. i can rip off the heads and just ship those instead of the whole sled.. only charge would be a few bucks for shipping.

Hey Niko,

If you want to use these magnets to make interesting structures, then go for spheres only, the other shapes I have (cubes, bars, discs, cylinders) can't make anything interesting.

I know you're looking for used ones, but did you check the prices on eBay?
If you want very big quantities then eBay is much cheaper than DX, that's where I got most of my spheres,

I'd appreciate that, PM being sent.

Nope, we don't. We have stores where I can get electronic supplies just as anywhere but not a big massive amazing radioshack that has EVERYTHING I can imagine :p
(Remember 2 bucks = almost 8 pesos now; our currency is going down; 1 dollar = 3.93 pesos, so it's like everything I buy is actually four times its original value).

I'm sorry, I'm trying to get small/not that small but not big sized magnets so I can get as many as I can. Thanks for the offer, though!

I didn't check on eBay because the shipping fees kill me (Hey, $0.01 for a car, shipping = $23.000!).
Same here with the spherical magnets, that's why I specified I'd rather have spherical ones on the first post (I've got some discs I got from DX which I used to build the magnet box I posted months ago).

Thanks everybody! If you have any further offers don't hesitate to post them here!

That's small compared to what I have... 1 inch thick. I should sell that magnet. I even tried giving it away, but no one wants it. :undecided:

I was able to lift over a 100 pounds no problem if it's even near metal. The problem is besides a novelty I could think of no use for it. It's unless someone here can get me a cheap computer controlled electromagnet that would allow me to constantly set the voltage used in order to levitate the magnet and stand on it. Besides that I can't think of anything else.

You tried giving it away and nobody wants it? CRAZY people. I would accept it for sure :p!

I could build another Magnet Box v2.0 with that amount of attraction!

I know you would prefer buying used and cheap from someone here but I can really recommend Gaussboys Super Magnets
Their magnets are high quality for low prices, and you especially want to take a look at their gold plated magnets. These are extremely powerful for their size.
Model D0902G, if 3 of these tiny fellas are used, can hold my entire tool box with hammers, drills, spanners, screwdrivers and everything stuck to the metal bar along the ceiling of my garage.
Model B0303G is cheap so you can buy loads of them and stack them in wonderful ways.
They also carry various accessories, provide much information and their shipping is very secure and fairly affordable.

Seb

Edit: I am not parting with my ones, sorry. They are way too awesome!

I browsed the website, not better prices than DX because of the shipping fees (which must be painful :p). Thanks for letting me know about other options.
Hey, your magnets are yours, man. Enjoy them! :)

Niko --- --

The CD RW drives you harvest diodes from have at least 2 very powerful magnets in the head. You should have a bunch by now. Some sleds have 4 magnets. I don't know what they are made of, but they are strong.

Mike

I tested acouple of mine and they run 2,000 to 2,200 Gauss.

A friend gave me a couple magnets used in glass making. They are 3/8" square and about 2" long. Awsome -- test at 4,200 gauss !!! Maybe you can find a place making glass that uses them. They are replaced occasionally.

I have several dozen dead harddrives here, each one has two very powerful (though somewhat large, and weird shaped) neodymium magnets in them... We're not doing anything with them, so they're yours for the price of shipping. I also have a bunch pre-harvested if you'd like. PM me.
