WTB: For the Love of Dog, I need a 1.6A Boost Driver!

Yeah, so I'm sure ya'll have noticed the lack of boost drivers around here. Now, were it not for the tiny host I'm dealing with, other options would work. But, I simply MUST have either an adjustable or fixed boost driver capable of 1.6A or better. I would prefer a square driver, but a 17mm round would suffice.

Now, before you mention it, I tried the Flex Drive, and with the Vf of the diode, it's max is only 700mA.

So, I don't care if it's new or used...it just needs to hit my target.

Any takers? Thank you in advance.

We just need to send $14,000,000 to Lazereer so he can focus solely on taking care of us :D

Should we start a fund?

Peace,

I will begin working on some boost drivers in the near future. Over the next month I will do some development and order some prototypes. Hopefully by the end of July I will have one that is ready for the market.

I've already volunteered my time for assembly if we can figure out how to get the boards make like Moh, the components, etc. It would be really nice to make these happen.

You can parallel a couple of ben boosts, they are open source and you can make your own.

Arg, I hear ya. But, I don't have the means to order blank boards, even if I could manage to figure out what components and such I'd need. I can assemble it, but that's about the limit of my skill set ATM.

What about the Micro boost, or has DTR sold out? I think Illumination Supply has them too?

Oh ok sorry I thought they went higher than that...

Edit: What about a flashlight boost driver maybe you could find something suitable in the US?

According to the spec sheet, at that Vf, it's output is seriously limited. A build I just sold was outfitted with a flexboost that I was expecting 1.6A out of and it couldn't manage more than 700mA. Let's just say my client isn't impressed.

You did say you are using a PLTB450 right? I just tested one and @ 1.5A it has a 5V forward voltage then I tested the flex on a 6V load and it can do 1.3A but with the 5V load you should be able to get the full 1.5A. Are you sure you driver is not in a lower range?

If you need help PM me and I can show you where to get the boards fabricated, and where to order the parts. It's simple enough :)

DTR, thank you for your assistance. You're going above an beyond the call of duty. I'm almost completely certain that I bridged the resistors properly. What concerns me is that I got virtually no adjustment out of the pot...and was VERY careful about turning it. I know many drivers are fully tested before shipping (don't know about this one), so I hesitate to blame the driver. But, like I said, I cannot pump more than 780mA max out of this driver.

My client already has the laser, and he's somewhat pleased with the performance as is, but I will not let this go unresolved. I want him to get what I promised. It's just this shortage of drivers is killing me.

This is what I am referring to in the datasheet. If I am not understanding this correctly, please help me understand.

I was about to say that 700mA figure sounds familiar. Yes you are on the right range but your pot is busted.:(

I did just find a Jib boost round driver board. It is doing 1.7A if you want it.

Yeah? Is it a 17mm board? What do you think the odds are IL would take it back since it's defective? There's no chance in hell I overturned it.
