WTB: Infrared Laser - Diode or module with driver

As the title says ..

Looking to buy an Infrared Laser with decent power i.e. low power < 50 mW that runs on voltage range of 3V to 8.4V.

Prefer it as a module i.e. with driver or willing to buy the diode and driver separately. Planning to use it as a weapon laser ( Airsoft ) by mounting the module inside an existing housing with adjustable used with a night vision device.

Also interested in IR Laser illuminators...

Paypal ready.

PM or post if you have one for sale.

You can't use it for airsoft, you'll blind people you are aiming at..

Anyways, you could just harvest the IR diode out of a cheap green pointer.

Thanks... I need a lower power laser then ... I will update the power need on the main post.

Can you elaborate on harvesting one from cheap green laser ? I may have a few that I can play with ?

You know, 50 mw is still enough to blind people. You need a laser that's less than 5mW. And with IR that would be almost invisible. Your best bet is a green or red laser instead.

Cheap green lasers use IR-diodes and crystals to convert IR to green light. If you take out the crystals and IR filters, you will get a ~200mW IR laser.

Infrared is not nearly invisible, it is invisible, irrespective of power. That's where the infra part comes from.

Instead of destroying a green laser (the most complicated and expensive kind), which is an endeavour of doubtful outcome, you should maybe simply try the IR laser diode that comes free with each LPC-815 or PHR-803T sled. I've no idea about the specs though.

You can see a very dim red-ish dot with a 200mW IR doide from a greenie.
Also, I'm not talking about 300 dollar greenies here. The diode from a 10 dollar ebay laser is many times stronger than from a sled.

That's the 808nm wavelength from the pump diode. It is at the border between visible and IR, which of course is a gradual one. I've read that light of that wavelength is only 1/20000th as bright as the similar energy in visible (presumably green) light. That makes it quite dangerous, since a dim light invites you to look closer...

I don't have any figures on the power of a sled IR diode, but would be surprised if it couldn't do 50mW easily, and probably much more.

On the other hand (on 2nd thought), even with a free diode it's probably difficult to build a DIY laser for significantly less than 10$, I hadn't considered that before. The only missing link is a "downgrade green to IR laser" instruction - I've never encountered one. But there might be people who'd buy the leftover crystals.

If you can see it then it is Near IR. ;) Everybody is just lazy and we all call it IR.

OP probably meant near-IR, he said was was going to use it as sight.

Sorry for the delay in posting but couldn't get on the forums for some reason.

This laser is needed for use with Night Vision Weapon scope ..

I have started playing with a IR laser diode that I found but am still looking to buy one with a driver.

Let me know what you got.
