Nobody will sell you one unless you have IR blocking glasses. IR is not a game.

Especially given that you said you just want an IR laser that burns...says a lot about how safe you plan to be

lol sorry I had to laugh at that bloom.... because of the debate happening over in Tony's GB

but on a serious note bloom is right if you are talking about getting some burning power but if you are getting the glasses in your GB I have one that I am working on an 808nm diode that is outputting over 1W right now. There was someone on here who was selling a nice one ill post the link for you in 1 sec.

************
sorry to the double post but here is the link and you might want to PM trussmonkey I was interested in them but they appear to be decent IR's so they were out of my price range.

Check out offroad's gb. Good price on an 808. But you will need glasses. You can do it for $100.

I'm thinking of selling mine... are you interested? I'm sure you could probably find a higher output one though

Bloom, it is for some experiments at work.. I am doing some work on "invisible burning power" and also wanted to know if low level uv is actually better for invisible burning?

"says alot on how safe you plan to being" what is that supposed to mean?

I think some of you forget I am 30 years old and have a masters degree and a doctorate in science.. I am not a 16 year old idiot.

Some of you on here have become quite critical if me for some reason over the last day or two and I don't really understand why? I don't know what i have done to you all?
And yes I understand I need goggles.. Which is one reason why I organised a gb for >$800 goggles. So I will have some high rated goggles soon.
mhemling33, i appreciate it, i have already messaged him. Hopefully it's not "too" expensive.
Cheech226, thanks, I actually forgot about that one.
Fiddy, look above :D
hwang2, thanks for the offer. Pm incoming.

Normally when you see "laser for burning", it's not good. So that's why I hesitate.

Word!

tonyt, with your physics degree i would think you would know that UV has a shorter wavelength which means a higher average power and that UV is absorbed by black bodys way more that IR...

Yes, I was just confirming that point. I know it's a silly question.. But i always like to confirm things 100%

i'm sure your looking to buy one to use in a proper manner but maybe you should outline your intentions for what you want to use the laser for, if you just say from the beginning 'WTB, Infrared laser that burns' it doesn't give a good first impression, but if you stated why you wanted to buy an IR laser in the first place in a more descriptive and sophisticated manner people will be much less hesitant to help you, remember as you just said there are a lot of idiots out there who don't know the dangers of IR

Bloompyle was merely making a judgement in the way you presented the thread when you said you just want an IR laser that burns,

cheers, will

Well now that that's settled...enjoy whatver laser you get your hands on, just be safe in the process.

You can build a decent IR laser for pretty cheap.

5.6mm half-watt diodes are available at O-like. Here. Lens available too... Any other thing is too expensive imo.

I'm from BR, and I'm used to >30 days of delivery, but o-like seems to ship from singapore, and things arrive here in <15 days. Thats why I'm recommending they. I don't like waiting and I think many here don't like too.

Cheers mate.

Yeah i know, i need one reasonably quickly though.

I am not really into IR lasers that much but as i said just need one for an experiment.

Thanks again to all of you for all your help.
