Greetings,

I am looking for a heat sink that will nicely fit into the Cree MX900 Host. I have not seen many builds using that host and would like to find one or have something machined. Whether in aluminum or copper, though copper would be nice, if there is anybody out there that can machine one if there are none readily available please let me know.

Thanks,
Moe

I can make you a heatsink, but we will need you to send us the host. It'd be out of aluminum.

Cool, I will have another host in the next few days. I have one now but already is setup. The heat sink used has a 1/8 inch or more gap between it and the host and I know with a good tight fitting one would give some dissipation into the host. Duty cycle now is just a little more then 1 minute and would think a tight sink would maybe even get 1 more minute.
Do you need the host first to figure the cost for the heat sink, or do we know now ?

Just looking at the light online, it is kind of difficult, but I'd say it'll be around $20.

That sounds cool.
I especially like this host as you can use 26650's and the pewter finish is just gorgeous.
PM me where to ship the host to. Will probably be the end of this or the first of next week when I will have it and send it to you.

Thanks,

$70 for the heatsink only or for the host, heat sink, driver, etc?

Greetings,

That was just for the heatsink. It has been very highly polished and I am sure why it is a bit high for the cost. Will try and post a couple pics. Also there is a threaded ring for holding the driver and making the negative connection. I would like to think that since this was a custom first the initial cost is a bit higher and likely the next would be less expensive.

There is a fair bit of machining in general between the threading and machining for the rings, and the machining for the heatsink, especially if turning the conical part of it to fit the head. The results were definitely beautiful once they were all done. Especially with the heatsink polished up.
