I am not a young pup looking to blind anyone or point them at aircraft, I currently have a gorgeous yobresal built blue laser that totally exceeded my expectations (thank you, good sir). I would like to add a nice green and red laser to round out my collection. I am 43 years old and have some disposable income to spend on my hobbies, which are many including R/C buggies, motorcycling, ATV's, and snowmobiles. I am familiar with soldering tools and their use, and not afraid to build my own provided someone can sell me a complete do-it-yourself kit and some good instructions. I will be using these with my 14 yr old son who is a science freak, along with his 12 yr old brother. I would like to stress to them how these are not toys to drive the cats nuts and to respect the damage they can do to humans and animals, not to mention the trouble they can get into with irresponsible usage. they would not be permitted to use these lasers without my supervision, and the lasers will remain in my locked gun cabinet when not in use. we live in a rural area up in northern Alberta Canada, and have plenty of private land to use them without interfering with others.

I currently have a pair of Dragon Lasers safety glasses, they claim protection from 190-548nm. are these sufficient protection from incidental reflection for the color lasers I plan to own?

Laser Glasses - UV to Green Lasers Protection 190-548nm :: Laser Safety :: Dragon Lasers

I plan to get a couple more pairs for the boys if they are the right stuff.

I hope this long winded post will put to ease any concerns the members of LPF may have about my intentions, thank you for any help you may provide.

Troy.

Thanks Polonium, looks like you have a pretty sweet collection going there. Hoping to start my own here, not sure I'm going about it the right way but figured I would give it a shot.

I have been collecting a while but only recently joined the forum. If your looking to purchase a laser I have had luck with Rayfoss.com and Lazerer.com. It's always a gamble with chinese companies as to quality and getting your laser through customs. They usually mark you package as "flashlight" or "toy part". I had recently had one of my packages opened by customs to have my battery confenscated. I also took the chance and got the Wicked Lasers Arctic, managed to get it in 3 weeks!!
If you looking to build a laser your in the right place. There is plenty of information here to build your first laser. I have just recently completed my first 405nm build. Nothing beats building you own laser!!

I'm going to check out those sites and see what they have to offer, thanks. I like the idea of building my own, looking forward to learning some of the terms associated with the technical side. Looks like a different language right now...lol.
