Hello,
I'm a laser lover, however my budget isn't too high. But well, I'm saving to buy a good and cheap one, I'm not expecting a super laser, however I'm expecting a laser which I can point to a star at night, or that I can make a balloon pop, or even better, BOTH.

I have seen lot of DIY laser, I even damaged my LG dvd burner, and well, didn't worked.

So I don't really care if it's a home made laser, or if it's a kit to DIY (ONLY IF IT'S VERY EASY, which I highly doubt =] )

My budget to be honest at the moment is 100 USD. Not willing to spend a lot of lasers, but if it's too cheap, calm down, I'm new to this, so just tell me the price.

Another important note is that I live in Panama(COUNTRY) central america. So I hope the shipping price is cheap, and can arrive in 1 week.

Thanks
Best Regards

I've got a laser that can burn stars. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Awesome.

No seriously. I'm thinking to do my own one, but I just don't wanna spend my budget and then I just end screwing it up, I'm more than interested in learning how to do it.

I got an old ps2 and old dvd reader and I think writer that I took from a laptop.

Maybe I can take some parts of there to make it cheaper, so if I end screwing up the thing I just buy a laser that is done already.

THANKS

Umm...
I don't know what are you implying , but just to make sure,
CD/DVD/BR drives and GREEN lasers do not have ANYTHING in common...

Green lasers, contrary to popular belief, do not have "green" diode, as such are not yet available, but they use IR diode and frequency doubling system.

So, green laser consists of 808nm IR diode and a set of optical crystals to get green light.

Anyhow, I wish I could recieve paypal now...

Can even light matches, not reliable though. Smokes anything black, visibility at night is breathtaking especially if you have never seen a green laser before.

Here's a pic of what I did to a star a couple of years back.

Only needed 125mW to do that.

Okay, I'm reading some guys, from what I understood I thought I was able to get the diode from the dvd thing and use it. But well, I'm just totally new trying to learn, as everyone else did in the past. Anyway let me know when you can accept paypal.

@mfo, so you are the one who did that? Great, I heard something like that on the TV. Maybe you can borrow me your laser someday, lol.

Green laser ad harvested diodes do not relate. Evar.

I also cannot recieve paypal - period. Croatia residents can only send funds, not recieve it. What a bummer, eh? :D

If you are looking for higher quality DIY green build, ask billg519 -the man.
