Does anyone know of any bullet shaped hosts or want to make some for me? I am wanting maybe 4 of them. 4 inches long, wide enough for a 20mm pcb to fit inside.

Wow I was just going to be making a custom laser for a friend and it's going to be made in a 20mm AA round :D







Great minds think alike I guess...

Why not use a real bullet. it can be done like shown below but use a heat sink and diode rather than a LED emitter:

I have 25mm shells from my plane that I have been spinning around trying to figure a way to make a host out of it. Up for another one of my challenges? If its easy lathe work I may buy a few. I have hundreds of 25mm shells all over the house. Or 40mm or 105mm. Ha. A howitzer laser! I have an idea for the 25 though it would involve threading :( Would be of your choosing though.

Pyro, haha I think it's a BRILLIANT idea!

Livinloud, that looks awesome! VERY cool build! Now - my application is I want to mount these as running lights on my motorcycle... So a battery compartment isn't needed, however, that space would easily be replaced by solid heatsinking. While driving, heat shouldn't be a problem with 80mph air flow. My bike has lots of chrome, so I'd want a silver shell, or I suppose I could get it plated? This would also need to be waterproof...

Speedy, haha I think a 40mm would be a sweet host... as a handheld though. I think those shells are too long for the bike. I'd love to have a go at a build though if you have an extra 40 and 105 :D I think those 25s would look sweet on the bike. maybe a cluster of 3 on each side of the headlamp? How much would you want for some of those shells shipped to Utah?

ps, the fender is raw steel that I custom cut meself and is currently in the shop getting painted... so that won't be grey this time next week. :)

Do you have the ability to custom engrave those shells? If not, it'd still be awesome to have a 40 or 105mm shell on my desk!

They get them engraved all the time but I have no idea where they take them to do that. I can get a couple. The ammo chief is a real pita lately so its more difficult to get them.

I've heard that they do all sorts of cool stuff with them. One of my Sgts have one on her desk from Hurby engraved with something, just a big ass 105mm, polished and everything. Pretty sweet. Keep me posted! Chiefs tend to do that from time to time :whistle:

I have a large bullet that would make a nice heatsink as well :p i just have to think about how exactly i can make a host out of it :0

You need to pcs out here. Add dome more laser'ist out here and I get to see that hene collection haha.

Dethlore: How many do you want? They dont have projectiles in them so you wluld have to get some made. We cant keep live ammo nor do I want to hahah

Trust me, I would any day of the week. Florida is my home, gotta visit Eglin again, see how close it is to how I left it back in the day. Got any SOF in your neck of the woods?

Yeah, I wouldn't want to have to deal with the live ammo on those without proper equipment anyways. haha
Just one 105 if you can get your hands on one, 2 40s and 8 25s?

For a pointer, true, but I haven't seen manufactured high powered ones. For my particular application, I want to mount the Cree XM-L2 LED anyways. Don't need lasers on my motorcycle burning everyone's eyes out. Nope.

Bloom its AFSOC headquarters so were all sof. But we do have tacp, cct and such here.
