I'd like to purchase, if anybody has one, a beam-fan diffraction grating. It is a diffraction grating that splits a single beam into multiple beams, like this:

Thanks!

if you come across a flat panel monitor the is DOA inside the screen there is a layer of plastic which makes a line of dots. I would send you a free one but my PM is disabled and I do not want to put my addy out there in the visitors messaging.

@brando: I would but it is $18 shipping to U.S. This brings it up to a total of $30 for a single grating. I was hoping for something a little cheaper.

@hakzaw: Oh my gosh, that would be great. Send me an email, my email is pianoman2011@yahoo.com. If you want my address, I'll just post it up.

@kenom: Are you sure this is going to split the laser into like 20-30 spaces out beams? It looks like this grating would give me 500 dots per inch. I'd like one that gives me around 1 dot every inch lol :p

The dots per inch is on the card, it will be less cause it spreads out so depending on how far you are there will be less dots in any given length.

Ohhh I see... In that case I just might buy 50 of em :D. But still looking for anybody on LPF that has a Beam-Fan grating. Preferably 100 lines per inch or less...

I can only tell you this much, since the guy that I'm working with hasn't prototyped his invention yet... What we are creating needs a bunch of separate laser beams to sense an object. Instead of having say 10-15 5mW laser modules to create 10-15 5mW beams, we'll just have one 150mW laser shining through a beam fan grating to create 10-15 5mW beams. We're basically just cutting down on space and power by using one laser module and a grating instead of 10-15 modules.

Hey Jakob, I have the fan grating from DRAGONLASERS too. IMO, it's WAY worth the $$$. It's made of thick glass, not plastic like others sell. Just thought I'd put in my $0.02. rob

Thanks buddy, I'll keep that in mind. I'm getting hooked up with some free gratings though :D
