Comparable prebuilt system would have been around 2K at the time.
Ram went down in price A LOT, so did cpu, video card, sound card.

Yeaa..see. $1265. For $900, my friend got a Sager laptop with i7-2720qm and a gpu with 2gb VRAM..i forgot which one it was but it was a class 1

My computer has 3.8TB of storage, 12gigs of ram, and my cpu will run circles around that laptop....
You're trying to compare apples and watermelons... the comparison just doesn't work.
I can take out half the ram, sound card, three hard drives, put in stock cooler, and remove extra fans... that would bring the price down to $875... and it would STILL run circles around the laptop in every regard.
Tell you what... show me a laptop with a 27" screen and I'll concede to the superiority of laptops in computing

I forgot the model..i remember it was from XoticPc. He got a bunch of discounts somehow. All i know is that he also fixes a lot of electronic things, so perhaps he got discounts by fixing things for them or something..idk. Lucky him, but im happy with mine

My IR is the strongest one for $60-
Not after you factor in at least $40 for decent goggles...
About to post a FS thread for a 150mW greenie... it has very good beam specs so will do stuff like light a match or pop a balloon easily.
Price will be $100+Shipping.
