I would like to buy an 8x BR in an axis module with a rckstr driver.

are you gonna put that in a handheld? If so get something with damn good heatsinking, you don't wanna waste that diode!

Yea something like a TANK007Cu with a copper heatsink and a 18650 cell for long times between charges ;)

Pyro...

You could make an awesome labby with it=add heatsink/fan -ac to dc- no batts- no overheat.. no worries!! ...well a TEC would be even better.

Jean C A Peltier would be proud. Here's a linky someone (jr) posted:

High Power Laser Build With Thermoelectric Cooling | Hack N Mod

Wow. A Peltier effect cooled laser, how Kool can you get. Albeit a bit of overkill.

It's quite cool, getting a PHR upto 200mW, I have a peltier on it's way to be used as an LPM folowing Billg's tutorial, if it doesn't work out I'll just chuck it in next to a PHR :)

Thanks for all the replys everyone, but I think Im going to wait until the 12x murder is complete. BTW I am going to put it in a custom made host from ehgemus.

how much heat does a 12x generate? It might be tricky to have one in an aixiz. Plus, I think I am going to wait for the new BRs sony is making. I think it's the equivalent of a 20x, it's rated at 500mW and could probably handle much more than that.

I was doing a bit more reading and I would not use an aixis module but instead have the diode pressed directly into the heatsink. I sold my sf-aw210 I got from moh to a buddy of mine and I NEED to burn, lol. So for the time being, I purchased a GGW from daguin to hold me over until I decide what I want. I really want an 8x but I really really want to get into the 1/2 watt range. But what I think is going to happen is I'll have a bunch of 405's from 250mW up, lol

Flexdrive > Rckstr. Flexdrive keeps the current much more constant over battery life. And whats this about a "sony br" equivalent to a 20x? *curious*

Can you use a flexdrive with 2 3.6v batteries?

There is a diode in the works, rated at 500mW. I believe the thread is in the science section.

Well under most circumstances no...but there may be a complex way to build your laser to be able to use 2 instead of 1. Ask some laser genious such as Igor or Daguin.
(Or search button...or make a thread lol)

And wow if a 500mw is going to be in the running soon...then why is everyone stressing over 12x's if they are soon about to be beat? I guess we have to await the 12x murder test...as I did plan on a 12x. But if a 500mw is going to come into the picture soon I may want to reconsider :l
