Hello, I was considering making a 405nm laser, but considering how fragile the diodes are, I think it would be better to buy one. What kind of power could I expect for $90? The style of housing doesn't really make a difference (as long as it's handheld), I just want a 405nm laser that I could just point around in my room.
I would ideally like to be able to see the beam in a dark room, but I can understand if that's not possible for this price range.
I'm at the "gathering information" stage right now in my purchase, so I can't 100% guarantee that I can make this transaction.
On a side note, I've heard that these lasers have a pretty small dot, would these lasers be capable of popping balloons at 10mW? And if you don't have a 405nm, I'll be more than happy to buy a 473nm for $90 from ya :p

I think BlueFusion sells Pen style Blu-rays for $80. About the beam, my 5-10mW Blu-ray has a very visible beam at night, it's brighter than my 100mW red.

He said nm, not mw! :)[/quote]
I meant nm, those are the real "blue lasers", not lasers made from Blu-Ray/HD-DVD diodes. They're a lot more expensive, but they look pretty cool.
