Default [WTB] 1500mW+ Laser Handhelds : Preferably (1600-1800mW)

Hi, as the Title Thread says, I am now looking for a hand held unit capable of 1500mW and over. Though Preferably, I would like to find units that are able to lase at 1600-1800mW. I'd like to see any variety of hosts so I will be able to take them into decision, while the price can be discussed. Thanks!

I'd say good luck, but that would imply I wanted this to happen. No offence, but you're unlikely to get any help from these guys. This is a forum with experienced members who know what the safety risks are, and will happily tell you that you're daft to do this.

Seriously, going straight to 1W+ is like going to a gun owners forum and asking where to buy a chaingun. It just shouldn't happen. Just because it's light doesn't mean it can't seriously screw you over.

Might i ask if you have any experience with lasers? Have you ever used a 1W handheld laser before? Do you have safety glasses? Do you know all the dangers associated with high powered lasers? Your post seems to just say that you want a high powered laser just because you WANT it, and dont care about the consequences.

Well. In the thread he started, he says that he "migrated from Candle Powered Forums with a little more than 4 years of experience with lasers".

I'm glad you asked, and the answer is yes, I completely know the risks and have been involved with lasers for years. It's just that I usually hang around at Candle powered forum as I have mentioned in my self introductory post. Previously I have been working in coordination with CNI in allowing group buys at CPF b k when the PCL-IIIC was ssomething close to 280 dollars excluding shipping since I sent someone to pick it up. Well as ignorant my post seems to be, I would just like to re-ensure you that I have had my shares In experiencing lasers and it's powers. As for the safety equipments, yes 2 pairs of safety goggles ordered from dragon lasers with acceptable-high OD Rating for the 445nm spectrum range. As for the 1w handhelds, I have yet to own one of my own, though I guess an industrial laser at one of my family's automotive production plant will do. I have seen much for what a laser can do to a sheet of metal, let alone the risking it on human flesh. I am intact not buying this unit for my leisure, but to demonstrate to the Thai science committee of it's dangers and getting it to become a controlled product since recently there has been a flood of high powered lasers from Chinese manufacturers to Thailand. You guys think wicked lasers is bad? Imagine 200mw lasers being sold widely at cheap prices in a market area, which I bet you guys know, called chatuchak day market. Anyone can buy it, even five year olds if they have enough money. The safety in sales of such tools are barely controlled here, so I was just going to make a difference. It took them over 100 incidents to control the sales of a BB gun, imagine how many it would take for the laser.

As per Aranthos' post, as a matter of fact I do own a gun. A .45 LAR grizzly MK.V... Comparing the laser to a gun is an understatement, the laser is much more dangerous, and can be much more so than a gun as you can carry it around in your pocket. Hell, it could be anyone here in Thailand.

I am a grown man, and completely know the dangers of wielding such equipments, and is willing to accept all responsibilities regarding the use of such equipments. Just because I was trying to over optimistically mention my WTB does not mean I am what I may seem to have been. I must apologize for misleading you guys and should bring the thread to a more serious note here. Anyhow....

I am glad that the question was asked ! It's great to know you guys are stressing safety as much as I do here, guess it was a great decision to migrate here after the vegetating state of the CPF forums . So anyone want to offer me a good mighty unit that would demonstrate it's power? I know you guys might say 1W is more than enough, but with the demonstrations aside, At the end of the day I just want a true collector's piece that I could cherish and not think later on that, maybe I should have bought. a more powerful unit. Yeah it's ridiculous coming from a guy who's driving a 600 horsepower car at the track daily, but hey, it's my job, and education the Thai public is mine too. The last thing I'd want is the ban of lasers simply because of an unknowing user who blinds someone else. Hope you guys understand. Cheers

Your afraid that >1W 445nm lasers will soon be available at the Chatuchak Day Market?
Just curious, how much is a 200mW 532nm at the Chatuchak Day Market (in American dollars)?

It's not that I'm afraid that 1w lasers will be available, it's just that even 50mw is enough to do you harm. Thai people are stubborn, and will never heed if they don't see the potential of the laser. As for the 200mw they can go for 65 bucks or even much lower, of course these are often pot nodded Chinese units without any IR filter that won't run for very long, but even 1 second is fatal to the eyes. The sellers even demonstrate the damn thing they sell when 100s of people are around them.

Hello abeepak1 and welcome to the forum!

Usually I'm the first guy to jump on the noob who asks for a 1W blue laser in his first post
But I see that in your case it's different.
Or maybe you're just a very clever "actor".

Anyways, if you browse the buy/sell/trade section of this forum, you'll find what
you're looking for. If you're not afraid to put a soldering iron on a laser diode,
you could even get a kit and a diode and build it yourself! A very rewarding experience!
Member "jayrob" for example sells high quality converted flashlight kits.
But there are also cheaper alternatives, just take your time and look around a little.

Well If I am Indeed an "Actor" then I shall be one worth an Oscar, lol. Well anyhow, thanks for the tip, but I usually come home too tired to solder or make my own laser, as I already spend my whole day working on my car for events and track days. I use to like these handi-works very much, but as something you like starts to eat away other parts of your life, it then suddenly becomes something you'd like to avoid, and in my case, working with something tedious.

Though on the bright side, I now have two lpf members offering to sell me their units, though I am now waiting for more offers, and deciding the best to go with.

Thanks for all the support guys, and keep em coming

Sounds like what i was like. I used to want to build my own, but then it got repetitive and i would occasionally mess things up.

Just make sure you not only warn about miss use

But

Just don't make it so that any hobbyist laser owner isn't able to have access to the hobby anymore.

That would be sad.

But if it was safety and (age) "I know all the young members are going be mad I sad that but sorry it's true" regulated, That would help some....

I still don't see any way of Really Stopping the random idiots out there to still be able to get one regardless of laws and regulations.

I really don't see where the $$ would come from to do any kind of Safety education or program to help regulate it. And then the fact that each country has it own laws and I don't see then uniting as a international community to regulate it all under the same system... So there will always be a way to access them but regulation would help with maybe 25% of the idiots who would be able to get one...
