yup, If you learn to build one, you can always have a 1500mW laser.

I just built my first from the ground up( except making the heatsink) 1.74W 445nm laser. It is awesome! and you will always be able to build them

Just make sure you not only warn about miss use

But

Just don't make it so that any hobbyist laser owner isn't able to have access to the hobby anymore.

That would be sad.

But if it was safety and (age) "I know all the young members are going be mad I sad that but sorry it's true" regulated, That would help some....

I still don't see any way of Really Stopping the random idiots out there to still be able to get one regardless of laws and regulations.

I really don't see where the $$ would come from to do any kind of Safety education or program to help regulate it. And then the fact that each country has it own laws and I don't see then uniting as a international community to regulate it all under the same system... So there will always be a way to access them but regulation would help with maybe 25% of the idiots who would be able to get one...

Well If you ever watched any news about the political issues in Thailand about the yellow shirts and red shirts thingy; my family is one of the head leaders of the yellow shirts and yes we kinda have a pretty far outreaching effect to the government. So I'm not really a kinda guy who walks up to them and say "Hey guys look at this, and blah say blah", but the type of guy who just says, "Hey, get this straight." If I really need to, I can just arrange a dinner with the head of the science committee in Thailand and start to have some serious conversations with him.

If....You know what I mean.:undecided:

Its not the government I have to persuade, Its the Public. As far as the government goes, I'll just force some regulation into it. Of course, not to the extent where it is illegal, but it indeed does need some type of control.

Well Jake, I know what you mean. But, as far as building one goes, I know that I am more than capable of doing it. It's just that I could no longer motivate myself to do so. I've drawn the circuit board and built some laser modules myself before, such as the popular DVD burner modules, and also revised some PCL-IIIC laser module designs and sent the revised version to be made at CNI for myself. It is not overly difficult, but as I have to involve myself in such tedious work everyday at my semi-work place on car parts, engines, Car Ecu, and what not; and at that point, all the tedious work starts to become a hassle for me. Besides, I have 3 Extremely Hyper Ferrets at my house, 1 Crazy ass dog, and another retarded cat. Trust me, these combinations do not help in creating a friendly environment for constructing anything, hell I even have a hard time understanding how all these animals get along.

Its just those one of many sad moments in life where something you love turns and starts biting at you, making you start to feel differently about them. Which in this case, is being creative.:(

Yeah thats kinda what I was afraid of, Tell me if I'm wrong. But are you getting the laser of that power to go and "show" How it is far to easy to get one of these and you got it from "LPF" and look how dangerous this could be. And that they need "To get It Straight" and ban / regulate these, with out any time/concern for keeping it available to hobbyists (who are educated on safety)?

I'm just wondering what your exact intentions are is all...

abeepak1 The polished aluminum laser I have for sale may hit 1500mW after I swap the micro-boost for a maxed out flex-drive. Check the thread in a couple of days.

alright, I'll check on that later on, Also can you include a shipping quote or something of the sense for shipping to Bangkok Thailand? So atleast I can have some sense into comparing all the offers.

Thanks!:)

He stated earlier in the thread "to demonstrate to the Thai science committee of it's dangers and getting it to become a controlled product [sic] in Thailand"
Nothing to do with the US or US laws.

This is by far the furthest from my intentions. I am not getting it banned, but into a more controlled situation such as the age group that these can become available to. More like the control of alcohol where anyone under the age of 21 cannot consume or buy it, or legally operate a car unless at the age of 18. Lasers are not to be taken lightly, they are not toys for kids, but rather tools to be used, and If used correctly, will bring no harm and could actually be very fun. Some people just do not understand this. It's not us hobbyist that I do not want to take these away from(why would I), but rather the irresponsible public that are unable to handle these equipment. As to how it will truly be controlled will have to later be discussed, but my ideas are similar to that of a gun, though maybe in a more lenient matter. Hope you guys understand.

Yeah I do understand.

That sounds just fine. I'm glad you seem like you have very good intentions. Thats a very responsible and good thing to do.

@ASH, Yes I already understood that it was for in "Thailand". Thank You for trying to help clarify it for me. I do think that Laws in other countries do effect the way the US looks at things. The more we have responsible regulations in other countries that allow us to keep our hobby, the better chance we will have the same kinda laws enacted here.

I just realized that some people "think" a bright laser isn't dangerous. They just think that its like one of those really bright fireworks and that no harm will be done. Make sure you emphasize the danger of looking at the bright dots. :)

Yes I will emphasize on the dangers , especially the color loss in vision, since I am color
Blind, the last thing is more people becoming like me cuz of the laser. Well that aside, I can't get into the yellow shirt link without registering, so what's up?

Edit: went through the second link and it was VERY helpful. Thanks!

You're color blind? Is it hard to to the normal everyday tasks with that?

Well not really, but it is embarrassing sometimes when you are talking to someone about something only to be pointed out that the thing your talking about isn't really the color you see. I always get mocked on by my friends and occasionally my girlfriend, since I don't take it too darn serious about it lol. Since I always help my friends that are architect students, I usually offer only to help design but will not do any color balancing work because I'll more than often mess something up lol. The effects on everyday life is very subtle as the main colors I can see are fine, but when the problematic colors appear, I may get confused at times.

On other things such as playing games and such, I can still differentiate and play mostly normally, but in some games, it would just help if they had color blind mode, and they usually do. Heh

Though on another note, another problem accompanying the color blindness from my Japanese side of the family (I'm Half Japanese Half Thai), is the problem where I cannot perceive light in dark areas as good as normal people do. I don't know how this came about and the true cause of it, but my Grand father never had to go to the Second world war because of this problem, and for some reason it really passed right down to me. Going back in history, some of my ancestors reportedly had this problem too, so I guess it is really genetic, but what happens is I really can't see in the dark that well. To make it easier to understand, its comparable to having sunglasses on while driving at night, or perhaps walking around your house in the evening with no lights on and with glasses on. Maybe this is the core reason I like bright things so much, and have pursued lasers for the past 4 years, mainly because 1. Color blindness wont bother me, 2. Saying that I may become more color blind does not frighten me, and 3. my problem perceiving light in the dark does not bother me. Besides the color blindness and the lack of dark vision, I seem to have no other problems, I guess I'm lucky.
