Would anyone be willing to mail me a 1ohm resistor? (1/2 watt preferred)

I'll paypal you $1.36usd (my current paypal balance) to cover shipping.

I'd prefer someone in Canada as it'll save on postage and get here faster.

1ohm is black brown black (the bands on the resistor) the fourth band (if there is one) is tolerance Gold +/- 5%, Silver +/- 10%.

10 10ohm resistors in parallel would also work, and that would cost you maybe $2.50 (USD).

Will surface-mount do? I can send you more 10.5 ohm surface-mounts than you could eat... I have a full reel.

They're 1/8 watt, so 10 in parallel would give you 1.05 ohms at better than a watt. They're cheap to send too!

You could easily solder them together in a variety of shapes... a flat ribbon, a tight bundle, whatever.

They're 1% tolerance, size 0805 (.08" x .05")(2 mm x 1.27 mm)

Also available: 22 ohm, 5%, 0805

(I'll send a bunch of either or both to anyone who sends me a stamped, self-addressed envelope - just pm me for the address)

I think that should be brown black gold.
The first significant digit (the 1 in this case) is always the first band.
The second sig. digit is band 2 (0/black).
The 3rd band is the multiplier, gold = .1
brown|black|gold = 10 x .1 = 1.0

Why don't you just get five 5 ohm and wire them in parallel.. or ten 10 ohm

Here's a great site to assist with recalling the resistor color bands :) Okay....so it really doesn't HELP you recall, it DOES it for you - but hey...you know what I mean :)
