Want to Buy WTB handheld/small 1W 808 -OR- 650

Hi,

I'm seeking a small (preferably handheld) 1 watt 808 infrared laser pointer. Otherwise, a red 650 would do perfectly fine.

My minimum requirement would be the ability to light a match from a considerable distance (1 - 3 feet), with the correct focal point.

The primary usage will be precision testing, engraving, and a bit of delicate cutting.

I'm a bit tight on my budget, but will absolutely pay for quality work

Any help would be immensely appreciated

I don't know of many small compact IR lasers over 1W due to cooling issues, I know Billg has ALOT of high powered IR lasers in smaller hosts.

Your best bet if you are willing to read around would be to purchase some suitable safety goggles (a must either way) and check out 9mm IR diodes on ebay (tend to be ok to purchase these kind of diodes from there) and check out the Meredith modules which offer a 9mm alternative, because the diodes will be 9mm in size, unless you want to get into C-Mounts but they get a little more confusing.

This way you can put the 9mm diode in it's module in some of the kits made by Jayrob or something, as long as the module is 12mm diameter, I think it is.

I have an 800mW Scorpius-D. For burning and/or engraving you will have to set up an external lens, but it is VERY reasonable

With a lens it easily smokes a white wall!

@DJNY, that was my original option, but, like I said earlier, I need to be able to burn quickly from a considerable distance. A friend of mine has one of those infamous 200mw red laser pointers. It burns well, but the distance is my primary concern. Do you think a 200mw would be able to pull off 3 feet with the right focus?

@Asherz, hmm, I didn't really consider that. I'll have to look into it. For the most part, I was looking for something small and portable, well, relatively small and relatively portable. I'd be willing to make a compromise if the laser would have the ability to fit my needs.

@daguin, I may have to PM you about some of your sales. Would you be willing to build me something? I really don't have too much time to pick out parts or build it myself, and I enjoy the convenience
