Re: daguin - Arctics, and HeNe's, and HeCd's Oh My!

Dave, I actually am still interested in one of the HeCds, but I really should arrange some way to drive out there and put the dang thing in my car... Had plans for a CA trip but then it didn't work out. I could change that after the holidays or send an emissary.

I will set one aside for you
Just let me know how/when you want to handle it

I have the original box (cardboard) and original interior padding/mounts for the head
If you want/need to go freight, I also have a wooden shipping crate for it

The PSU will just be boxed in my usual packaging

Ship it! Ship it! Ship it!

I went through literally thousands of dollars in broken and non-functional components to get these working sets

Most often the poor packaging of the seller was to blame :(

Peace,
dave

Yes, "Crack up" is usually the result :p

Dave, got your PM, will get with you on logistics here soon, hopefully I can actually get out there, but otherwise second option yeah, would be sending a local.

Thanks. It's a bit dusty, so I'm gonna clean it up a bit. The OC was pretty nasty. I cleaned it and it seems a bit brighter now. I wonder jut how much this thing really pushes? I'd return the rep, but I have to spread some first. Don't forget the AC cable :p

Could you remind me of the cable type (the plug configuration) or post a shot of the plug.
I know it is a standard type because I didn't keep the cord with it separately
However, I have several different types in the drawer ;)

its just the standard US 115VAC plug like one uses on the back of a computer. The big 3 prong thick black cable. (two vertical prongs and the round ground prong underneath)

Sorry. I'm not doing a very good job of expressing myself :yabbem:

On the rear of the laser, there is a recess where you plug the cord into
Is that recess a rectangle, shaped sort of like a house, or round?
Based on your description as, like on the back of a computer, I'm thinking that it is not one of the round ones
It could still be rectangular or "house shaped"

The prongs in that recess will all be blade shaped
I don't think any of them are "round"
Are they horizontal, vertical, or a combination of both?

Sorry again. As I said, I have more than one type in the drawer.

dave

oh no, i understood, I just was trying not to have to go take a pic. That's what I get for being lazy lol :tinfoil: You're right i was thinking of the end that goes into the wall, the one on the laser is all bladed, house shaped, like so:

I'm planning on doing a 'tour' / 'teardown' of this laser too anyway. It needs cleaning in a few places badly, so I'll just document it as I go and share with everyone, for those who may not know how to work on these. I'm on vacation from work this week, so I'm hoping to get it done pretty fast.
