Default Too big for my britches. Argon and a few other items.

After much mulling it over, I've decided to sell my Argon-Ion, PSU, and a few other laser related items. I am looking to get around $300 for all items. JDS Uniphase 2214-10SLPU Argon Laser, SPECTRA PHYSICS ARGON ION LASER POWER SUPPLY 263-D03, a 10" upright HeNe, a few mounts (there are 2 of the large black mount), 2 micrometer stages that can be connected together to be what I believe is an X and Z axis stage (2 directions on one plane, mounted stacked at 45 degree angle), and a 3 motor spiro that has speed adjustment on 2 of the motors as well as a reverse switch for the 3rd motor, will need some tweaking as I never got it dialed in, but it does work and creates some nice designs. Please make offers, I will be able to check back daily, possibly more. I also have some more mounts and such that I will be adding later, as well as some small 1/2" cubes for combining reds, and a lens assembly from a projector that I need to take pics of. I will need to know location before I can get a shipping quote. Thanks for your consideration.

Note-The PSU came new w/o a key, I used a pick to turn the keylock to 'on', but have not powered it up since doing so.

Is the 10SLPU a single line?

Thanks,

Does the PSU run the Argon laser? Is there a controller needed for the PSU?

If it runs the argon, do you know the output power?

Thanks!

The "SL" part of the "10SLPU" tells you that it is a single line (@488nm).

The PSU will require a remote or at least some jumper wires to run.

Have you run it at all?

Peace,
dave

Both of the cables plug into the psu, but I have not powered it up due to lack of experience/knowledge, and a remote interface. Hakzaw1 pointed me in the direction of Greenmechanic who built his own interface bypass, but without the experience I decided not to muddle with high voltage. It was rated at 8.5mw before shipping to me. If this is the one you need Jayrob, I will lower the price to half what I paid for it cuz you contribute sooooooooo much to this forum. (I paid $100 ea for the laser and psu on ebay)

When I received them I plugged the power supply in and plugged the laser in but got nothing, I am certain this was because the interlock was in the 'off' position. I later used a pick to turn the interlock to the 'on' position, but did not plug the laser into it or power it up, figguring I better do some research atleast before I started bypassing safety devices.

That's a really great offer...

But since I just bought a PSU that I don't even know if it will work for me yet, I better wait and try to be more patient...

Now if you came back with something like 'yes the laser fires up with this PSU' then I would be all over it! But I figured it was way too good to be true!

Still, it sure looks like a nice new looking PSU and if I knew what I needed for the argon laser that Dave gave me... (just don't know enough about what I need)

Take two small pieces of wire. Jump the 1 & 3 pins together and jump the 2 & 13 pins together. That should allow it to start up at "idle" (4A). It should give you a couple of mW at idle.

That way you will at least know if it is lasing or not. If whoever buys it wants to turn up the power, they will have to buy or build a remote

**EDIT** Make sure that you have a fan pulling air out the rear of the laser to cool it.

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** Make sure that you have a fan pulling air out the rear of the laser to cool it.

How strong of a fan? I have a Stanley small shop fan that is squirrel cage that I could rig up, or would an a/c biscuit fan work? If the biscuit type, then I'm in luck, as I already have one mounted at the end of 8" x 4" tube, drawing air through the tube. I could just slide that over the back of the laser and seal up the difference.

Default Re: Too big for my britches. Argon and a few other items.

Wow, within 4 hours of posting I am making arrangements to meet up with Flaminpyro, as he just happens to be in my town currently. This is great! I will update to include any insight he gives me regarding this sale, or updated inventory if he decides to adopt my laser.
