They're in! (order links at bottom of page)
I just pressed an OSRAM single mode blue into one as soon as they showed up, and it works great. The pockets are good and tight, tighter than the MOD9s were, which on occasion could encounter a diode that didn't sit in them firmly. It takes some strength to press the diode in, but the flip side of that is that it's a really snug fit. You'll need to get creative because 5.6mm presses are too large to use. I created a "press" by drilling a hold in an aluminum block.
The diode pocket is 1.8mm deep, so the diode doesn't completely recess in flush like they do with 5.6mm modules. There's maybe 0.2mm that remains above the flush level. This is only thing I would change second time around. I'm used to seeing diodes disappear entirely, and this bugs my OCD
I've just tested acrylic, 3-element, and G1 lenses from DTR and Jayrob. They all fit great.
The modules themselves:
These are aluminum housings for 3.8mm diodes, with a standard M9x0.5 thread. They aren't threaded for rear housing components. It's just a straight-forward 12mm-compatible housing for 3.8mm diodes.
Shipping:
Flat rate $6 to anywhere, regardless of QTY
MOD38 and MOD9 - Ongoing Pricing:
1 to 3: $7 each
4 to 5: $6 each
6 to 10: $5 each
11 and up: $4 each
