Hi Jason.
As I said before, I am looking for portable source of light and am very interested in your products.

I test and maintain high frame rate cameras  (1000-1000000fps) and some tricky macro shots, and every time i think how it would be awesome to have extra light manually pointed at a spot just where i need it without building any permanent setup.

- I like to see 4 modes ( power output levels yes?) as a feature.
How do you change it?

- Do you have picture of projected dot against the wall. I would like to see circle shape and dispersion. Specially compared to 24W and 35W tactical

- Is it a one P7 diode inside, or more?

- I think I read that Tactical 24W has limited beam angle adjustment. Is this one capable of any "focus" too? and how is it done?

- I noticed they are out of stock on Tactical 24W and 35W in your store. When are they back, and what new features will they have now - if any.

Sorry for so many questions

thanks in advance

Compared to other P7 lights out there this looks like a good deal. Comes with chargers and a case.

Does this use a forward rear clickie?

Will this light remember it's last mode when the light is selected off?

What is the finish, Type III Hard Anodize of Type II Anodize?

Some more basic information about this particular light would be really handy. As above a few really important things like Mode memory, forward or reverse clicky, anodizing finish type are great questions, however I'm also curious what the current provided by each of the modes are and exactly what the modes are (high, low, med, strobe, sos?)

Also as milos asked is this just one led or is there more than 1. Cause if it's only one, then this really isn't a very good deal no matter how much runtime you get as you can get a dual 18650 for around $40 on DX.

this is true, There are at least 10 choices for small 1x P7 diode 900 lumen flashlights at kaidomain and Dealextreme for under $60 free shipping.

what sets this one aside from others?

Is there a focus ability, and if yes from how much to how much in degrees ?

The main differences between a "generic" light and the more expensive models can be found in build quality and driver. The cheaper ones tend to have poor heat-sinking (leading to a burned-up led or electronics), a plastic reflector and lens (instead of aluminium and glass with AR coating), poor quality threads and usually no water-proofing. The drivers are usually basic versions with little (or no) over-discharge protection, no temperature control and no regulation (the light dims as batteries are used up).

Of course, I haven't used all of the cheap models and some are actually great bargains, but sooner or later you'll run into a hitch caused by low manufacturing standards. Some of those lights run for years, others die in a few days. So it's more of a gamble.

Now, this particular light seems to be new on the scene, and so far I haven't found any reviews. I for one wouldn't want to jump in without some prior experience with the company, so maybe more information from the OP would help potential customers here make their minds (although he seems to have vanished after the initial posts). That being said, from the looks of it this is a high quality light, and the accessories are certainly top-notch. You even get a car charger and batteries in the price, which makes me wonder that the whole package is too cheap, I mean other lights like this sell for up to 200$ and they don't include batteries and chargers! I'm actually pretty interested in this, if not for the lack of third-party reviews I'd be ordering one right now...

Other things to note: the 900 lumen quoted refers to LED lumens, i.e. the maximum power of the LED itself, not torch lumens -- the actual power exiting the lens. So expect around 700 lumen in actual use. Also, I am pretty sure there is no focusing (I haven't seen a P7 with focus, and not that many LED lights actually) since the LED is already a directional light, spill and throw are basically controlled with the shape of the reflector and the lens. So judging by the shape of the reflector and the clear window lens, plus the fact this is a P7, I'd say you can bet on a lot of flood from this light, but at the expense of a somewhat short throw -- so it would be great to light up the surroundings, and less so for directional "spot" lighting.

Anyway, as has been previously steted, CPF is proably the best place for more info and discussion regarding this...

thanks for the input. I did a lot of reading lately on CPF.

I still don't understand why they don't make 35W short version with this great front focusing ability but only one battery.

cheers

Hoping to be helpful, here are some answers I received from Jason:

1) The four modes you simply select by turning the light on, and then you press half way down on the switch and it will change it from 100% to 70% press again and it will go to 50% then 20% then back to 100%.

2)  The P7 can not be focus adjusted.  Most LED flashlights do not have a focus option.  It already has a very good beam range.

Well, three 18650 are a lot, but 2.5 hours at the max power are a lot too....
I hope that Jason will give us more info soon....  ;)
