Re: FS +6watt 450nm laser

Still for sale?

I'm intrested in this. Time to take the next step from my 3 watt zero laser.:)

whats the duty cycle?

Yes the +6watt 450nm is still for sale. The direct press copper heatsink does a great job of pulling heat from the diode which will help it's life span. That being said it is still smaller than the enormous regular aluminum ones some people are using so duty cycle should probably be kept to less than 60 seconds give or take.

yeah my zero laser is only aluminum.

How many batteries are you including 1 or 2?

Would my Samsungs that are 2600mAH work?

say I use it for 50 seconds how long should it be off for?

It includes 1 Sony VTC5 but I can include another one for an extra $10 if you would like.

I'm not sure about your Samsung I would need to know the model number in order to know if it will work. If it's a high discharge battery it will most definitely work though. Samsung makes very good batteries.

However, with a 7amp draw this laser drains a 2500mah battery rather quick. So, fyi the LG MJ1 and Sanyo 18650GA batteries are both 3500mAh and have a max discharge of 10A which can easily handle the current draw of this laser. If you want really long battery run times those two are definitely your best bet. The Sanyo doesn't voltage sag quite as much as the MJ1 in my experience but both are still awesome choices for this laser and will allow for the longest possible run time. I recommend grabbing a couple next time you go battery shopping.

I would use a 50/50 on/off duty cycle so if it's on for 50 second then let it cool for 50 seconds. You could probably get away with a shorter cooling time just use your touch to get a feel for how quick it heats up and cools down.

Re: FS +6watt 450nm laser and 4x cylindrical lens set

Hi Glutton,

The fact that you sell the cylindricals - does it mean that you lost interest in them and found a better way to tame beams or that you will be able to get more in the future?

Can I still hope for the 2nd GB to happen?

Re: FS +6watt 450nm laser and 4x cylindrical lens set

I will promise 150.00 for 3 pairs of 10x if they could get started, they can be used later and you can back down the concave for less than 10x in field but the nubm44 would be happy with a G2 and 10x pair.

The 6x are great but 10x would bring the 44's G2 focused 2 inch line at 5 meters to 0.2 inches rather than 0.33 inches or between 5/16 and 3/8, I stretch to 5/16 but 3/16 would be better with a 10x pair, that may not seem like much but it is, it almost doubles the energy density if I am using the correct terminology but calculate the area for 6 watts and then shrink the spot area by 67% but keep the 6 watts and :eg: :eg: :eg:

p.s. I got the package you sent Tuesday Glutton :thanks:

Confess, Red, how many pairs of 6x do you already have and how many do you still want?
I do not have any of those even to make a test, because I joined LPF too late and I as result I am sentenced to wait for Glutton´s answer till the end of my life... OK, honestly said I received 3 pairs of 3x from Poland now, so not completely empty.

10x would be great for me, too, but only if the size of PCX would be 15+mm.
Because from one NUBM44 let´s say 1mm wide input beam into PCV will become 10mm wide at PCX. Giving advantage of 10x less divergence, of course.
But if I plan to KEdge 4-5 of them, then the resulting min. 5+mm wide input beam will become 14+mm and 12mm wide PCX too narrow for it. At 6x expansion it still would not be narrow for the expanded beam.
Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Re: FS +6watt 450nm laser and 4x cylindrical lens set

Are you using a DTR G2 primary lens?

My print on my concave cylindrical is 1mm wide or less.
My print on my convex cylindrical is about 50% it's width, and there is pleanty of room for adjustment.

You want a tiny starting beam out of your primary and DTR's G2 is the stuff, I have tested with G7 and other G2's and nothing comes close.

It's rear FL is 2.39, so if you had a single element with a shorter rear FL then that would be worth testing.

The cyl lens are the same height 12mm tall but the convex is wider at 12mm while the concave is 6mm wide.

I see the problem with knife edging post correction, it almost needs to be done pre correction and physically larger Cylindrical pairs will be needed, then use a telescopic reducer to squeeze it all down.

I am going to combine 2 corrected beams and I could knife edge another combined pair of beams but they will be 2-2.5mm wide by 6mm long at the knife edger.

So 3 combined pairs, but this is why I want to get to square to start with, also the NUBM06 is much less divergent.

Ay 5 meters focused through a DTR G2 the nubm44 makes a 2 inch long line and the nubm06 makes a 1.5 inch long line, this makes the nubm44's divergence 33% wider.

Hmmm extra ten not bad. Only places I know that sell them are vape shops and they want like 15 before tax. no idea if it's even a real sony they sell. I'll send you a pm later when I'm not busy.

I typically don't collect lasers that use multimedia diodes because I prefer the nice beams single modes make. I had the cylindrical because I built a NUBM44 for the power and planned on building a NUBM07E. I decided to sell the 44 and still haven't got around to 07E so I am selling the lenses to support a different hobby for now.

As for the GB I doubt it is still doing to happen. It's been a few months and I still haven't heard anything back from the supplier and even if i had it doesn't look like enough people are interested. If something changes I will let you know tho.

Glutton the C6 is fabulous. I love the copper heat sink, the tight focus ring and the obvious build quality.
I didn't need a sixth burner but you left me no choice.

I'm glad you like it and it finally has a good home. Love the heatsinks jayrob makes. Ive tried a few direct press heatsinks from other members who dont charge as much as jayrob and they just didn't measure up to the same quality.

I have 4 pairs in use and only 3 unused pairs, I have projects for many more but I will make do somehow, I may have to repurpose some, also I think I could surface mount 2 diodes on a copper backing with only heatshrinked pinholes drilled in the copper backing mount and get 2 diodes stacked on 1 pair of cylindrical if I UV glue by the edges with hand made mounts, but as the lenses are 12mm tall and diodes 9mm if I stack them touching that's 9mm center to center so the line height will be very close to fit in the concave, I could grind 1mm of each 9mm diode backing plate, but the lenses will need to be hand mounted.

I will be better off finding more optics.

If you find a source for more AR coated, possibly 8x to 12x let me know and I will go in on the purchase.

Re: FS +6watt 450nm laser and 4x cylindrical lens set

But that´s exactly why I want to knife edge - in order not to need put 44s closer than they can be to pass all beams into one lens pair.
I want to use a micro knife edgeing from Lasertack (one is on one of Alaskan´s avatar pictures), but now they do 4 diodes holder from Al, not brass as before. So I will have to put it on TEC or use a hadmade chunk of Copper with holes for 12mm modules instead...

Thorlabs has Big size cylindricals of any FL but expensive.

CDBEAM had big cylindricals (at least they looked big on pictures) on his different colours builds. May we ask him where he got those and if he plans to get more?
