Hey all.... Late last night I was taking some pretty nice pictures of my higher frequency lasers; Violet, blue, and green.

However, I suddenly noticed that the output of the violet became incredibly distorted... I turned it off very quickly, and viewed the diode's window...

Somehow, it appears that the glass melted on the diode's window...

So, is there anyone on here who I could send the diode to (I can remove it from the aixiz module myself) who can decan the diode so it can be used once again?

And, we have gone over that these diodes have coated facets, so they don't get damaged by decanning correct?

Thanks.

IIRC Yobresal and Daguin both have decanners.

The diode wont get damaged without the can, but you have to be more careful about dust :)

Several members, myself included, have decanned diodes without an expensive tool.
You can place a diode into the jaws of a lathe, dremel or power drill & hold a razor against the can as it spins (at the back edge / farthest from the window).
Might not want to risk it if the diode is rather expensive or a freak.

Well, i successfully decanned it myself, using a drill + razor blade.

Thanks for suggesting that Haloblu. :)
