Is indifferent ..... the whole serie from 1N4001 to 1N4007 have the same max current (1A) and max power dissipation (1W), it changes only the working voltage ..... the lower one is 100V (1N4001), the higher one is 1000V (1N4007) ..... so, you can use the ones you prefer, cause none of the laser drivers that we build go til 100V :)

Yes.... those Diodes will work for you....
Look at my sig for the FREE 1 Ohm Resistors Thread link...
Follow the instructions on that LPF Thread
If you want me to add 6 1N4007 Diodes just add $2.00 US
to the shipping costs..

Jerry

Ya i think i will be buying what you have suggested but will the 1N4007 change the current reading if used instead of a 1N4001 rectifier diode?

No, the diodes are used for simulate the forward voltage (VF) of the laser diode ..... as long as you use diodes that hold the current that you need, no changes are made using 1N4001 or 4004 or 4007 types .....

Ofcourse, with different types of diodes, as example signal diodes low current like 1n4148, you can have problems, but only cause they don't hold the current that flow in the load ..... til 700/800mA, the 1N serie is ok, if you need to measure higher currents (over 1A for IR, as example), just use bigger diodes (just as example, BY255) and a 3 or 5W resistor .....
