Hey,

I'm going to donate $20 from the sale of each remaining kit to LPF.

I had initially purchased these Trustfire hosts to make myself a matching set. But I ended up with a beautiful custom 5pc chrome set of hosts from Ray J Neal, so I've decided to pass these Trustfires on in "kit" format. I have 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 on hand now.

Here's what comes in the bundle for $100 Canadian, or $110 US.

- 445nm Diode
- Aixiz Module (diode comes pressed in, with leads wired)
- Trustfire Host
- Heatsink from LaserEmp.com
- NJG-18 Driver (these are my last 5, and I'm not sure we'll be able to order more)
- 445nm Coated Glass 3-element Lens
- Samsung ICR 18650 Battery
- Some extra silicon wire.

I love this setup. You can read up on usign the NJG-18 driver on the forum. If it was me building this host, I'd also consider going linear and double-18350-ing the build, but I realize that most people will want to single-cell it with a boost driver. Hence bundling in the Samsung ICR 18650, and the NJG boost driver. Once you get the heatsink in place, I'd recommend a dab of quick-set glue (crazy glue works) to keep it secure - to be safe, I think these hosts require it.

Shipping is:
- $6 North America (regular postal mail)
- $8 International (regular postal mail)

Two additional items that I'm going to add to the kit:

- Ceramic 10uF 16V capacitor. At your option, you can either have this included with the kit as a loose component, or pre-soldered across the leads of the diode.

- Black dust cap.

Actually, my bad for not updating the op. One just sold (and shipped) this afternoon.

So there are 4 kits left now.

I know right, this is a great little package. Im still fairly green when it comes to assembly this is ideal for me and anyone else who is wanting to fiddle around with lasers. If there are still some left when i have mine put together ill put up a little review of it. Hopefully persuade some other people to get one:D

The cap is for voltage/current spikes. Protects the diode because the njg is a constant voltage driver. :)

ooooh....so how does that work then...does it just use the max discharge of the battery?

Cool! Nice of you to offer :) No worries about the speed of sale (whatever it ends up being), I'm not in a rush. And I may pop these up on eBay (for more than here on LPF), as eBay seems to be a good route for this kind of stuff. I think this is A-OK with their rule since it isn't a working laser.

Bounty:
Do you have a little hex tool? It occurred to me that the set screw in the heatsink is a hex screw, and not everyone has one of those. If you don't, I'll figure out how to get one to you. I'll fix this in future sales by setting the aixiz module into the heatsink on my end before shipping when requested.

xxDUNNxx:
As rocket mentioned, it's for spike protection. I always use a cap when building with a driver originally intended for LEDs. Some people skip this step, but I think it's important. The cap is actually across the diode leads (so the driver output). It basically just absorbs any spikes that come out of the driver, so that the laser diode doesn't.

everyone:
I'm totally happy to help with the build if people have questions. It shouldn't be the toughest build in the world, but it's not the easiest either. There are some tight squeezes.

Crap..... with the server backup, I've lost the post from the buyer of the 3rd kit.

His name was Mark - can anyone help me out here? I am waiting for instructions from Mark as to how he wants the capacitor (pre-soldered, etc)
