On offer, is a clear anodised Kryton groove with a RED G2 lens and an incredibly efficient mits 500 diode! The diode outputs nearly 1.3 W (and just below 1.4 W  with a 2-3 min cool in the fridge - approx 12 °C before running!!!)

1401_untitled_039_zps35e0ad8a.jpg

There are also two modes; 1.2 W and around 430 mW and it also has a memory function, which remembers the last setting. This means that you can choose whether the laser starts at high, or low power!

The recommended max run time at full power is 1 min and I would suggest a 1 - 1.5 min off time.

The measurements below were taken with a Rubicon 10 W from ARG with an Ophir head.

This is the first of 3 graphs: The up and down between HIGH and LOW mode is me trying to change the mode by partially depressing the switch....Its actually easier just to switch off and on quickly.:p

The second graph shows the output after cooling for a couple of mins in the fridge and with a fresh AW IMR fully charged. Note how the laser starts in low mode, as this was the last setting used for the final reading in graph 1.

The last graph shows the output with the same cooling, but starting off directly in high mode so the max peak can be seen. In graph 2 the laser had already warmed a little as the low mode was used first. The output is quite stable and remains above 1.3 W for the duration of the measurement.

Here is a shot of the GITD with the laser off;

and a couple with beam shots and GITD! :) (Actually a diff pic to the one above! ;))

Two things to note here:

1) This is the Mits 500 diode, a multimode diode, which means that the output is bar shaped. If you were not aware of this, or if this maybe of concern, please have a read through the thread linked above before purchasing!
2) The way the driver is assembled it is possible that some longer protected 18650 cells will not fit. I would recommend the use of unprotected good quality IMR batteries. Runs on 1 x 18650.

The price is $ 280 + $ 20 worldwide registered shipping (tracking and sig confirmation included).

Thanks for looking.

** Note to buy a completed laser you must be over 18 and own the correct pair of safety goggles for your chosen wavelength. Please feel free to PM me for further details. **

Re: FS: Mits 500 638 1.2 W! Kryton Groove Red G2 and GITD

Holy crap, the thing looks AMAZING! I absolutely love high powered reds- whenever i get money, i think ill have to do this to my groove...poor things been sitting around empty for too long, its long past time to put it to use. I just cant get over that GITD though- it looks like little vials of lava. Frickin sweeeeeet!

What output do you get without cooling?

:thanks: Glad you like it. Maybe I should have thought up a cool name for it, perhaps something with lava... :)

The first graph shows the output without cooling. The laser was at room temp and probably around 20 °C.

drool worthy

Very nice

I've got a Mitsu diode I need to put in a laser, boy that is pretty.

That GITD color goes so well with the 638 light, same reason I picked it for my focus adapter. you really can take some cool looking pictures, such as this'n, though yours are much better.

should be sold in no time. won't lie, I'm a bit tempted myself

Thanks! What host and will you be using GITD in your build?

Appreciate the comments! :) I really like your pic too, the GITD looks like glowing plasma. ;)

Probably a Trustfire F23, I have a stack of them. Mine is only a Mitsu 300 I've been playing with. Boy they take a lot of abuse.

I'm working to do a full set of F23's, a 635, 405, 445, and 520. So far all I have is the 445.

I'm saving the 2 Krytons I have left for something special. Something like you have there, Class 4 for sure.

I have a set of Krytons Grooves, but it's a 650 instead of a 635, so I want to add a class 4 635 to it.

I love the way you did the GITD on this.

Sounds like you have some work ahead of you! :) If you want any help or advice building, or GITDing the krytons let me know.

Thanks guys! :)

Ethan suggested mentioning a couple of things about the heatsinking, so Ill add them to the OP.

Edit: On second thought Ill just mention them here. I removed the anodizing both around the diode press fit hole, before pressing and around the threading on the head. The latter was for heat transfer to the main body of the host rather than electrical continuity, as the neg is picked up from the pill in the host. The diode was pressed with a tiny amount of silver paste too, to enhance the thermal transfer.

The heat transfer in this host works very well as can be seen in the graphs, but I would still keep the runtime to a min to be on the safe side and prob 1 -1.5 mins off. The runtime info has been added to the OP.

Can you take a picture of what it looks like when the GITD stuff isn't active?

Re: FS: Mits 500 638 1.2 W! Kryton Groove Red G2 and GITD

Thanks Shakenwake. I can post a pic later, but in the mean time here is a pic from my Kryton FS thread.

43497d1384003299-new-kryton-groove-fs-thread-1311_untitled_003.jpg

In the picture the GITD in the third host is red, so it looks white in the daytime. I deliberately bought a daytime invisible GITD, as I didnt like the others that appeared pink. ;)
Please note in the picture above, the third host has been sanded with 2500 GRIT and no longer has the anno. Imagine host no. one with the GITD from the 3rd and you have it!

Anyway, Ill post a pic later this evening (FYI its now 8 am here ;)).
