Any plans on making any green laser's in the future?
Looking for my first one and don't know where to start. I hear green is most visible, blue-ray cough "violet" is less visible but a nice amenity, good for talk.

Welcome to LPF. Green lasers are very hard to make and I have yet to see any home built green lasers that are portable and practical.
On the other hand Red and Blue are easy to make since you can buy the diodes for them, vs Green you have to buy an IR diode then run it through various filters and junk to drop the IR diode wavelength down to the green wavelength.
If your looking for a good green to start with get a Nova, I read somewhere here that nova X75 typically output 90+ mw, which is plenty for your first green and will be impressive.

Thanks for the help Andrew. Gonna look into that Nova. I am mostly looking at something that could be run with rechargeable batteries, don't plan on making daily trips to store, and would like something nice. Gonna look at the Nova lasers and hopefully find something nice that won't break the bank. About green laser's I've heard that you need to use some special goggles since part of the bean is IR and cannot be seen can bounce around and mess with your eyes. Would the red ones be any safer for the eyes?

Yes the violet laser is also $63. I am really shocked that nobody has jumped on this one yet. I was just playing with it and contemplated whether or not I should keep it. I love the violet housing that matches the laser. Anyway it is still up for grabs.
You are going to have a lot of trouble finding a red laser that has a visible beam in daylight. They do have a visible beam at night though. And yes they can be run with rechargeable batteries.

With good green lasers like Nova lasers they have built in IR filters so you dont need glasses to protect for IR you only need glasses to protect form the green light. Most pen style greens run on AA batts i have yet to see a sub $300 green that runs on rechargeable.
Both Red and Green are equally dangerous when dealing with high powered.

You must be referring to the Elly lasers. They use a voltage boost CB. It takes 1.5 volts and turns it into 5 volts.

Worth noting... 7mW is the maximum safe peak CW load for a BluRay, anything over that and it dies fast. Lava ran dome tests; drops 1mW in a hour or so and continues till death.
