Thanks Neo. Yeah I put up a listing on ebay for the people who aren't familiar with this site. Looks like it is going to sell for $67 unless there are some snipers bidding on in the last 5 seconds.

Yes those are the ones I'm using. I wouldnt get the black ones though. The twist on/off sensitivity i mentioned occurs only with the black. Plus the paint feels textured rather than smooth like the others. The blue ones look great. As for the ma and V i am not sure

Heh, wish I knew that before I asked for a black one, but for 63$ as long as it works I don't think I can complain :p

No worries, I sent you one of the only black one that doesn't experience this problem. Speaking of which, it look like you just received it 24 minutes ago. ;)

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

can u just clarify for me: u used the circuitry that came with the flashlight? so u just removed the LED and replaced it with a laser diode?

thanks,

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

Thanks, They really are pretty cool little hosts. The blue and silver work nicely. The black ones are just crap though. I have removed the black ones from the list of available colors for sale and removed all of the modules from the black housing. I have placed them in Elly flashlights as well as some other housings utilizing the amc7135 Board. I did have one customer purchase a black laser from me and he can attest to the turn on/off mechanism being pretty terrible. I sent him a blue one in addition to the black one he has to make up for this. For those of you who were wondering about circuitry, voltage, and all the other really fun part of this hobby ;D j/k here are some measurements you will hopefully be happy to see and interpret.
My multimeter only goes up to 200ma and every time I try to test it says overload, so i added a 33ohm resistor to the positive stick on the multimeter. The readings I got were mostly around 94ma +/- 10%. I also took readings of the voltage which is at 3 volts almost exactly. Here are some photos of my reading.

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

Hey guys,
I ordered a black one from yobresal and the switch was insanely sensitive, I spoke with him via PM and he immediately sent me a new one in blue.

The blue one just arrived! This laser is awesome, it has a visible beam in the dark when focused out. When focused in just move the laser close to a black object until it starts smoking. Burns through my slim black CD jewel cases in about a second :O

This laser is made very well, and is well worth the 63$ :D

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

I'm glad the blue one is working out for you. Thanks for the good words. I can't believe it got there so fast. I sent it out on the 10th around 1 o'clock and it got there in less than 48hrs. Wow. way to go post office.
P.S. You know all you need to do to make the black one work is order a blue or silver one from Dealextreme, twist out the led module and reflector, and replace it with the one that is in the black laser. There you go, shouldn't be too hard and you will have 2 great lasers.

why couldent u tell us the black ones were buy one get one free??

lol jk

WOW easily seeing the beam in a dark room = overdriven diode, I want to try one, Ill build one and see how it goes. yobrasel, u shoudl sell them on ebay for more than 67, ebay is the way to go for extra profit.

regards,

amk

P.S. these are defenitely worth more than 67 bucks!

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

Hey. I'm not in a position to buy anything now (Just getting over the Christmas debt :p) but when i get some cash i may attempt to try this myself. It doesnt look too complicated-and looks easier than doing the whole circuit thing yourself.

Anyways, i understand if you dont want to answer-why help me when you can make 70 bucks selling them but whatever :p

When you ripped out the LED and reflector...... what did you do? Sounds kind of vague and maybe stupid, but i dont have the flashlight in fron of me so im having a hard time visualizing hat you do? Did you just solder the Axiz housing in?

Also, would it work on different flashlights? Im not a fan of the little keychain sized housings. Grated im not a huge guy but still-i want something that would make me feel manly :)

Anyways-thanks if you can get back to me. I love lasers and learning about them-but sadly i havent educated myself in electronic components yet.

Re: >150mW mini red lasers for $63

Well you can use pretty much any led flashlight. If the circuitry puts out the right amount of current and voltage as is than you are set. Most, however will not do that so you can purchase pre-assembled drivers from different places. There is the popular AMC7135 which I have used in some lasers and that works fine with heatsinking or with resistance but require 3.6v to work (with 16X diodes). I have ran these at lower voltages and gotten away with it. The battery types you would use are 14500, RCR123A, multiple AA/AAA. there are also these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4735 which have a nifty voltage boost. I have also used these and they are fantastic if you want to stick with a regular AA or AAA battery. There is plenty of more information on this forums about building red lasers so I am not going to get to carried away. Good luck with your project.

Thanks AMK, I think they are not too overdriven as yesterday I let one go for nine minutes before the dot started to rearrange itself. I contemplated selling them for more, but I think I will wait till my power meter gets here and then sell the higher powered ones for more and the lowered powered ones at this price.
