hi, i am selling my optotronics pen. i ordered it on august 11 and jack sent me one of the best of the batch.
i sell this nice unit because i would buy in the next future an endeavor NOVALASER pen at 250mw but i am waiting it goes on sale ( now it is 580$... )

it0s a long story, i explain in less time. my order was delayed a lot of times, because there were some problems.... and jack was so a nice guy to repay my confidence choosing the BEST ONE of the new batch arrived.

he measured the power and wrote it in the paper

agerage: 194mw
peak : 227mw

however i tested the pen with the lpm of arayans member.

and we had slithly less power, about 210/215 of peak

and stable power between 170/160 over 30 seconds.... about 45 sec or more. it NEVER go under these average.( so it isn't a real average mw, generally seller say average the power after 20/30 sec in the BEST condition. our measurements is ok also after prolungated use )

......... i need to RETEST it going to arayan's home because i THINK test measurements were lowered by TEMPERATURE. summer temperature.

i emailed jack owever , and he said me that it's possible a 10% of difference using a not perfectly calibrated lpm ( the LASERBEE).

this is part of the email jack sent me:
I only guarantee them to perform above 150mw and you got the best of the batch.
On my meter with brand new alkaline batteries, it averaged 194mw for
the 20-30 second run I did on it. I didn't do longer as much of that
is was actually well above 200mw.
I suspect that the meter used is not a NIST calibrated professional
meter as mine is, so it could be off by 15% or more. Also, local
temperature will affect output power (warmer will usually give less
power) as well as 2nd or 3rd run of a laser that is already still warm
from previous uses.

My guess is that an uncalibrated meter is partially responsible for
the max 200mw reading when I was seeing in the 220's (thats only 10%
difference), the drop in power is most likely due to repeated uses
without enough cooling or a warm room temperature or not using brand
new alkaline batteries

i am shipping FROM ITALY. so....european country are welcome for shipping :)
thanks to ARAYAN for use its lpm

the temperature can surely affect the measurement, but my laserbee is well calibrated. I found differences between mine and the Laserglow measurements in + or - 2 mW :)

BTW the optotronics pen is a good and stable pointer!!

The changes may also depend on batteries. This is what happens with panasonic rechargeable batteries (1.2 V, 550 mAh). The peak is lower but the pointer is more stable.

hi! happy to see these measurements......... so i think u like the pen :)

a nimh at 550mah is a bad nimh... generally they have 1000mah or 800.

peak is lower because the higher voltage is not near 1.5v :) but wow.... VERY STABLE....in the summer it dropped very fast to a lower power, now in winter the power remains stable after 2 minutes :)

yes, I really like it :)

550 mAh is a low value without doubt, but this influence the duration of the battery not the power :) BTW very stable :thanks:
