SOLD!!!

What I have here is a GREAT little AA sized laser. It feels great, is VERY light. But DON'T be fooled by the "little" design. It's got a good heatsink and great internals.
I'm pretty sure it's the MOST powerful laser here FOR IT'S WEIGHT/SIZE.

:lasergun:

Asking price: $250, but feel free to PM with offer.

Reason for selling: Need the $ lol. Only way I can afford a 445nm myself is if I sell a few of these.

Please note: The knurled focus knob / 445 glass lens hasn't arrived yet.
All I have right now is a shitty old acrylic lens with back closed. Which means no decent beam shots right now.

The specs:

-Romisen host (AA sized) from DX
-Aluminum pressfit heatsink from IgorT
-A140 445nm diode from Dave
-Microboost drive from DrLava
-custom knurled] focus knob from Jayrob
-445nm AR coated Glass lens (aixiz metal, full thread)
-14500 Li-ion battery (same size as AA"s,)

Aluminum laser-warning sticker (<1000mW) will be attached later

Diode efficiency: I can't say since I do not have a LPM.
However even with an old scratched acrylic lens and LESS than 1A, it burns nicely. Rips through thick paper WITHOUT needing to focus. Melts plastic without focusing. The beam is VERY visible. The dot is BLINDING to look at.

I can send the battery pre-charged for free. Charger not included however.

-Current: BUYER DECIDES. I can set this to anything. The highest I have had it at is 950mA.

I suggest: 500 - 700mA

I'll get awesome beamshots when the 445 lens arrives.
Look at last picture for size comparison to an 18650. This is SMALLER THAN IT LOOKS!!!

It has suberb heatsinking for its small size. This is due to the pressfit design. NO AIXIZ MODULE to waste space.

-Burns wood instantly.

-Still waiting on 445 AR coated lens / knurled custom knob

SHIT PIC!!! Still waiting on the good lens. More pics when 445 glass lens arrives.

Big battery is 18650. Small battery is 14500, the one this uses.

Thanks for moving it.

I added the price. It might be steep, dunno.

It's a very good burner for the size though. Rips through stuff WITHOUT needing to focus.

What is the black wire soldered to?

How are you going to set the current with the diode already attached?

dave

I can take it off in a few seconds. Black wire goes to the case pin.

I can see that part -- from the case pin to what?

So you are going to de-solder it, use a dummy load to set the current, and then re-solder it?

It's case negative. So batt - terminal.

I think you are looking at the picture wrong lol. The wire doesn't go to the back.

As for the current setting, I can do it 2 ways, depending on how the buyer wants.

Desolder, set with dummy load, resolder. I'm pretty good at it and can do it in a few seconds.

OR I can use some basic math and set it that way. It might be off by 10% but will still be well within the "safe" zone for this diode/driver.

Then I am lost. I can see it doesn't go down in front of the driver to the battery terminal. I can also see the table showing through the input terminal. So if it doesn't go down the back. To where is it soldered?

So set to input or output at the buyer's discretion?

I set it to the output. No point in setting to input.

If you are wondering how, it's range is currently set to 540-1000.

Knowing that, and the fact that the pot turns 270 degrees exactly, I can set the output current by calculating the number of pot turns in degrees.

Also, the change is very linear as drlava pointed out vs the flexdrives.

Don't bash me please lol. I know it's not exactly perfect, but if you give a ballpark figure of "550mA", I can set it around that.

Also, this way the diode doesn't get extra heat from re soldering (which shouldn't really matter since its fast and its pressfit into the heatsink all the time)

If you think that this is "bashing you" I suggest you never deal with the public. At no time here was I bashing you or even questioning your ability or knowledge. I may bash you a bit now for your defensive attitude.

I was asking for clarification because I could not see it in the picture and you answers were equivocal. I was trying to help you avoid having to answer many questions via PM. At the same time I was working to help educate others in the forum.

If I want to "bash" you, there will be no ambiguity.

If you are going to work with people, especially in the interwebz, you better develop a MUCH thicker skin

lol , backpeddaling

I love it.

A question about your host , kit, build. why does it look like its not completely screwed in , in the 3rd pic, or is that just the way it is?

Dunno what "backpeddaling" means....

As for the host, it's supposed to be a bit tighter. Was a bit lose in that pic.
But even then, yes there is a gap. It's made that way.

There is a rubber washer to prevent water from entering (prolly not waterproof though lol)
When the 2 parts are fully tightened, it causes the heatsink to be securely held in place.
