DTR I've pushed the little Man you sent Me to 1.9 Amps. No power meter but He sure puts on a show at that level. On Your high power builds when the Diode overheats does it shut off or seriously lose power. I've not let this one get really hot, but was wondering what I would see.

They do drop in power as they heat up and the more current you are putting in them the more heat that is generated. That is where a massive heatsink will help dissipate the heat keeping the diode's output more stable.

This guy is still in My mini heat sink the Moh made for Me last summer. It's not big enough to dissipate a lot of heat so run times are only a minute or two at anything over an Amp.
