Instructions to use the Diode Press Tool

1. Pre-install the Diode into the module using your thumbs

2. Screw on the opened backend onto the module

3. Slide the Press Tool into the opened backend and use a vise to press the diode into the module

The opened backend guides the tool so the Diode is level inside the module.

No tool marks left on the Diodes BTW.

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

Is a diode press tool necessary ? You can use the back of the aixiz module to press the diode into the module...

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

Some people do not have vices to press the diode in that way, you wouldn't need a vice to use what he is selling here.

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

These presses will put the diode all the way into the module for better heatsinking and focusing, not just flush with the module IIRC.

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

Tool instruction is added in first post.;)

Hey Silvershot,

The 445nm diode I have installed seemed to be quite a tight fit but I have a diode press tool from another source so don't know how the back of an Aixiz module would have stood up. I have seen them deform and not completely press a diode in before though.

As with most of the diode press designs, a vice IS required to install the diodes.

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

Ehh, I figured it just screwed into the back to press the thing in.

If I have a aixiz module that is hard to press a diode in I get a dead diode and force the thing in there, then remove the diode and put the good one in. It somewhat sets the hole, and makes it a lot easier to press one in.

I have one of these diode presses as well. They work very well. The one I have is made out of carbon steel.

I've had some aixiz modules where the diode is an extremely tight fit and I have completely deformed the back of the aixiz module. Some of them I've almost completely pushed the back of the aixiz module out!!

And has been said, using the back of the aixiz module doesn't get the diode below flush

Re: FS: 445nm Diodes and Diode Press Tools

I'm in for a diode press, very beautiful look. Might make my builds a little quicker and cleaner.

Thanks Morgan and the others for explaining. In either way, a vice is required.
