These 2W 9mm diodes from hesc_photonics are 1W but he does advertise them as 2W.

I have some of these from Chris (hesc_photonics) and they don't
have a FAC lens so it will require 2 lenses to focus the beam....

Wow didnt realise chris would do that, thats fair enough, they might be 1W diodes then,
do your no this as a definate Renno?

Yer the price went up on the page but has free shipping now which would of been on average 25 AUD around the would, so it is cheaper...lol.

Your right jerry they dont have a fac, so 2 lenses are required for a infinity focus, but the len provided in the modules should focus to a dot.

doesnt seem to be much interest though....might sell the items seperatley if anyone has any offers?

EDIT: the 618nm diode is this just wavelength shifted down to 618nm or what? how do you use it? thanks

so in pack number one: Will the diode be ready for use if it is correctly hooked up to the driver and the lens is in place? some other members mentioned that two lenses are needed.

I'm not happy to say that but I must warn other people.
2W diodes work at higher current than 2A and 1.5A for this 1W diode is not healthy.
After I killed THREE of these "2W" diodes at only 2A I'm sure they are not 2W, but 1W.

You need big heatsink for that.
You can burn things with only one lens but not all light will be collected by one lens.
That means less power.
One more problem is that you can not achieve perfectly small dot that can burn perfectly....you can only achieve small tiny line.
But at this power it will burn very, very well

Well if your not happy reNNo then ill make some changes.

I bought these diodes from chris under the impretion they where 2W MAX power, i would suggest running these at 1~1.2W around 1.2-1.5A.

Have you checked the wavelength? I think I got one 1W 808nm and one 1W 830nm diode sold together as 2x 2W 808nm diodes from Chris.
