Re: FS: 100mW 473nm in Ehgemus Host

It's notably brighter, but not crazy. About as bright as 650 maybe a tiny bit less per mW.

And I'm not sure we're allowed to do firearm trades on the forum...?

Re: FS: 100mW 473nm in Ehgemus Host

My girlfriend would kill me at any rate if I got an assault rifle. Here is a picture of the internals/parts:

This module was tested by Jayrob to do 125mW, thus the 125 sticker on the module. The module is from lasever and has a great IR filter on it. Brightness I would compare it to a 638nm laser, but you have to keep in mind that this is one of, if not THE prettiest dot available in handhelds. Barring the thousand dollar specialty diodes that can hit 488 or something of course. The beam is somewhat visible in moderately lit rooms, and I often turn it on and stare down the length to enjoy the beam in my lit room. In darkness the beam is very nice indeed. The build required giving dimensions to ehgemus for a custom host that I had invisioned and then modifying what he sent me. I got a local machinist to remove some more metal from the inside of the module barrel as the module would not fit originally. Just too tight. Really cool guy though, so I was glad. I also had to use my dremel to modify the custom lens holder he sent.

Speaking of which, if you unscrew the front you can adjust the lens to your liking. So the divergence, while very tight right now, is in your hands. You can make it as tight or as spread as you want.

Lastly, your wife will love the color. :) It is such a beautiful, vibrant ice blue that just shines like a pale sapphire in the morning light. Compared to 445 this is brighter and more pure. Purity is really the essence of this wavelength to me. 445 seems dirty when compared to this crystalline beam.

EDIT: added this to the OP.
EDIT2: Adding beamshot comparison of 445 vs 473. This pic is not perfect, but it does an okay job for being a smartphone camera. I don't have any 445 right now or I would do a new one using my dslr.

nice choice of host- they dont get much nicer-- does it come on powerful right away or does it need to warm-up like the JL 473s?
I have thought about selling mine- but that color is so sweet and the dot so tiny.
and its the only handheld 473 I have-- good luck Isaac wish I could have seen it while in Austin--

It comes on at around 120mW if I remember right. And yes, Ehgemus did a great job in fabricating it!

Think it through as long as you want. I am still enjoying this laser. It literally stays a foot away from me any time I am at my house. The clicky that Ehgemus uses just feels so good to press, especially when 100+mW of 473nm pop out at a moments notice.

Wanted to bump this thread myself:). Very, very tempting, oh my... would jump on it, but can't let the yellow one in GB go:thinking:.

Someone better buy this asap!

Just curious here, WBS. If I say - as an international - was interested, would you ship it for $650 in total including the postage? I can imagine you'd rather prefer to sell it in US, but would be good to know about posting outside CONUS availability as well.

Good luck with the sale:beer:

Very generous of you, DJNY:D. But let the seller decide, will respect his will.

I would do that, sure. I want more than anything for this laser to end up in a good home.

Re: Price Drop! 473nm in Ehgemus Host

If hwang21 wants to grab this beauty, I wouldn't have a problem with that. The thing is I can't buy it now, but after the 25th of this month I could. But that means to let the 589nm go. In other words if no one shows interest within next 2 months - which I highly doubt - I'm in.

Decisions aren't easy to be made, speculations are. Whoever wins this laser will be extremely satisfied:beer:.
