They never told me what diode it was and I haven't even taken off the lens. I doubt I could figure out what diode it was without asking them anyways. Although I doubt they'd tell me. It does use two 18650 and the tube is slightly longer than normal so some of my 18650 s are long enough and some aren't. I recommend having one that have the metal nipple on top. It is a stainless steel host and is extremely sturdy

It's almost certainly an ML501P73; if not that, it's an HL63193MG. :D

I figured it would be one of those. I should have mentioned before, i don't like the open can diodes if I can avoid them, if it's the oclaro, I'll take it.

lildutchboy7, can you tell if it is open can or not? if it's not I will buy it

So I took off the lenses for like half a second to check and it looks like it's an open can :(

Either way as long as you don't remove the lens you should be fine. It's a good and sturdy laser still:D

thanks for checking. I really would prefer closed, and I'm making another big purchase, sorry. I'm sure it will sell, it's a nice unit, nice price

When you get a diode there's a little silver can like thing on top and a window into of that. In some cases diodes don't have that so its just the bare diode. It still works the same it just doesn't have the silver can on top. You can see the insides basically.

If you've ever seen what a nubm07e looks like then it looks pretty similar to that.

It can make the diode more susceptible to dust but I always kept the lens on so it should be perfectly fine. In truth I don't see any reason to take the lens off of it. Either way different people have different preferences.
