bruising like that usually only happens when they vein blows.
I'll dig around chasing that damn vein and it just moves away. I just have to learn to control the vein and get some more practice in. It's going to be even harder in the back of the moving ambulance.....this is in a controlled environment with plenty of lighting lol

The ER where i'm doing clinicals is the same place i've been bringing patients in the ambulance to for almost 4 years now so I know them pretty well. It's just those pre-jitters i'm getting.

Just have to add the set screw and a final deburr and sanding and the heat sinks will be done. Probably 2-3 hours worth left.

sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but Moh, one of your c6 heatsinks is too short to stay in place while i screw the head of the host with the o ring. how can i fix that so the hs does not move back and forth?

This is the exact reason I do not make bulk heatsinks as not all hosts have the same dimensions on the inside just because they look the same on the outside.

I would find some thin aluminum sheet and drill a hole a bit larger than 12mm like a 31/64" or even 1/2" then place the heatsink on it and draw a circle around it on the sheet. then cut it out with some tin snips now you have a large thin washer to put in behind or in front of the heatsink to take up the space.

Good luck...

Have you swapped the o-ring in the front retaining ring with one of the thicker o-rings of the body?

It is no problem to mass produce heatsinks for china flashlights if you have the skill. The chinese still have to hold tolerances close enough to hold reflectors and lenses, and any machinist worth $0.02 can make a heatsink to fit that gap.

@ Silvershot if you don't have a thicker "O" ring I can send you one or two different sizes free, is there any way you can measure the one you have and I'll send you a couple that are thicker
PM me if you like.

Petros, unscrew the head of the host and take the o-ring off the top shaft of the body, the heatsink will fit fine.

Careful Silver, he'll probably charge you $40 for his oh so valuable time

Edit: I was on my cell phone earlier. The heat sink are made that way for a reason. In their current form, they will work using either the stock o-ring, or the o-ring between the head and the handle. Otherwise, If I made them bigger they would fit some perfectly, and other would not screw down all the way and you'd have a gap between the head and the retainer ring.
I have yet to see any tests that show that making freaky tight tolerances against the inside of the host will improve heat dissipation to the point that it's any use to us.
I can make every single heat sink perfect for each host, but then they are going to be $20-$25 instead of $5-$10ea.

This is the same thing that happened when I did the group buy from Pontiac's CNC machined copper sinks. You've just got to add the thicker oring from the host.

I almost got all of the sinks finished today. Got all their butt's sanded lol. Now i've just got to sand the face of the sinks and they are complete! Which will definitely happen tomorrow and then I can be completely caught up on orders when they all ship on Monday.

I'm tempted to stick around and make stuff when I have time. Certain people showing their face again reminds me why I was doing this. To keep them from raping and pillaging the wallet of LPF users.

I'm probably going to get into some "just add diode" kits that already have the DIY driver wired in. I can sell them for like $30, which just leaves the user with the task of getting the diode, lens, and batteries, and who doesn't like to build their own 445nm for ~$80 total?

I meant to come back and thank you earlier but I forgot!

I got my heatsinks and press tool a few days ago and they are great! The front of those saiks we're even polished up a bit. Ive bought heatsinks before for far more $$ and the faces were just dull.

And I definitely agree that you should keep making some things here and there. The just add diode kit for $30 definitely sounds good. I know what you mean about the wallet rapers... I have bought single heatsink/host combos that cost me close to twice what I paid to buy 9 heatsinks and a press tool from you! Hopefully these will hold me over for a while
