I'm doing my first laser build and need a good place to buy cheap components. I want to try to buy it all from the same place to save on shipping costs.

I need:

405nm PHR diode ~100mw
driver
Aixiz module/lens

AND...

A host if I have enough $

Any suggestions?

EDIT: How about Stonetek.org? Anybody buy through them?

Stonetek is reputable around here. The owner is a member here and you can ask him some questions if you have any.

Thanks guys, I bought some stuff from Greg at Stonetek. If everything arrives as expected I will definitely be ordering from him again. Very friendly and helpful. Good prices too.

The host I just bought from Stonetek takes 3 AAA size batteries as is. From what I understand I will need higher voltage for the PHR diode than 3 AAA batteries can provide, are there any higher power lithium (preferably rechargeable) batteries in AAA size? I'm looking at the batteries page on High Tech DealZ and a few of them look like they might be AAA size... or am I going to have to modify the host to be able to fit batteries that can supply the needed voltage?

get some 10440's they are lithium AAA batteries with 3.7v, although you will have to modify the AAA holder with a jumper wire so you only use two 10440 batteries

Hmm, how about a charger? Will I be able to charge them with a regular NiMH charger?

Not at all. It's a different chemistry with different voltage and different charging method.
You need a proper Li-Ion 4.2V charger.
They are available for as low as 5-10$.
