Hello fellow laserists!

My Laser Community username is "Vic".
I have long lost my interest for lights and lasers(I know, sad, :'( ), and had many ideas about what to do(including: full review, home-made collimator, waterproofing case, etc..) when I would get this laser, but have not fulfilled any of them, :/

So... I'm planning to sell my Prometheus-465 laser; at least it's still in brand new condition.
This laser is from Carter Haines, hence the "Prometheus" name; I bought this laser from him for $1600.
This laser hasn't been used hard; I have never left it on for over a minute. The battery has also only been charged once(Also meaning the laser has only used one battery throughout its lifetime); still holding its same power to this day.
The laser has been kept in a cool environment, never exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit or falling below 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
The laser peaks at 501mW and averages at 470mW.

Although I have lost interest for lasers, selling this laser will be a lost for me, as I have thought long and hard before buying this laser; I would be losing a memory of my past, but this task(selling this laser) must be done, I would like my laser to be put into good use.

Wicked Laser Case with 532nm googles and microfiber cloth

If anyone is wondering these lasers are the same as the black RPLs. They are both made by Viasho.

Oh yea, forgot to mention that they are the same model as the RPL.

The last pictures(third and second from last) were taken with laser goggles in front of my laser, and the beam was shone from far away(To show the transverse mode).

A current one would be nice to since after the herc 500 thing we know lasers can loose power fast.

1200 is steep for a laser you can pick up bran new from opto for 300$ more.... since you have bought yours prices have came down.

It hasn't been used that much, and the condition is new, would $1050 be a good price?

Somebody's got to be the mean guy.

Prices have come down significantly in the last year.

It is not uncommon to pay >$1 per mW for a used laser such as this.

In order to even generate any interest in this, you would have to drop below $500 for it.

Does that suck? -- Absolutely! Unfortunately, the very laser you are selling is available for less than that $500, as new, now.

How little it has been used is immaterial. New ones have not been used at all

I can manage to bring up at least $400. $1050 is much to high IMO.
For example, I bought my Sony Vaio FZ 11Z for $2600 two years ago, now I would get not more than $500 for it, but it is still in perfect condition!

I bought an Alienware for $4200 2 years ago, and no one would want to buy it for even $800 last year, :\
But computer technology advances way faster than lasers do.
Optotronics still sells them for the same price they have 2 years ago.

I'm pretty sure optotronics has lowered their prices since 2 years ago. But your point remains, technology drives the price of old technology very quickly.

That's still somewhat steep. You can get a 500mW RPL green laser through Scopeguy's CNI group buys for about $950 new, and those are usually overspec, so the 400mW one, at $700 is probably the comparable model.

And don't be too surprised if this doesn't just fly off the shelf. That's a bit of change by any measure.

Hi Bionic-Badger, Scopeguy isn't offering any RPLs in his group buys at the moment, although he may have an Optotronics GB in future. You might mean he's offing a CNI 500mw in his GB.
I ran a couple of Viasho group buys serveral months ago, but the lasers offered are not RPLs.

btw, I have one of the 500mw ones left and it's in stock ready for immediate delivery. I ordered a couple extra so that just in case any of them had a problem on delivery to me, I would have an couple spares so that the customer wouldn't need to wait several weeks for replacement.
